Red Door Terrace is located in West Hobart close to all the amenities of the North Hobart restaurant and entertainment area a 7 minute walk away. Close by is Hill Street grocer with all you could want in the way of provisions. Around the corner is Smolt Kitchen if you don't want to cook or use the coffee machine
Built in 1920 to provide much needed housing after World War 1 the Terrace features in 100 Hobart Houses and was built in the style of municipal housing in England. A classic '2 up 2 down' floor plan has largely been retained so you can catch glimpses of life in Hobart a century ago. The original outbuilding with what would have been an outside toilet is still there and inside the original staircase, high ceilings and large rooms point to a different era.
The Terrace features 2 very large bedrooms, both with queen size beds upstairs. Downstairs is a cosy lounge, large kitchen/dining with full kitchen facilities, a laundry alcove with washing machine and dryer and the delightful new bathroom with a heated floor to warm your toes in the middle of a Tasmanian winter.
Tasmanian art and design by Tom Samek, Helen Wright and Les Blakebrough feature in the house and the garden has sculptural elements by Folko Kooper.
Outside the back door is a delightful sunny courtyard garden with seating for a pre dinner drink or a summer meal. The garden backs on to a park with beautiful mature trees and spacious lawns. Parking is right at the front door.
