Description

This unique architect designed beach house in Cape Schanck is close to the bay and back beaches, golf and wineries, the house is ideally situated for a great break away and is perfect for children.

This award winning, architecturally designed custom built home has been widely acclaimed both Nationally best house, national Royal Australian Institute of Architects awards and Internationally due to the innovative design, particularly the internal water tank which contributes to keeping the home cool in summer.

Set amongst the tea tree, this environmentally conscious property accommodates up to 8 guests maximum of 6 adults with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open plan living area complete with heating panels and a stunning stone floor and a Jetmaster open fire. State of the art kitchen complete with S/S Franke appliances and D/W.

The private outdoor patio has external speakers and is the place for you to relax and enjoy, with outdoor setting and BBQ.

Things to do

Cape Schanck's stunning coastline provides attractions for all types of visitors, whether you choose to visit one of the 62 wineries in the area, play a game of cliff-top golf 10 mins walk, take a walk along the boardwalk or up to the lighthouse with spectacular coastline views, or snorkel amongst the wonderful marine life in the rock pools.

Drive along our coastlines and cruise our quiet country roads, and the Peninsula's love affair with wine, fresh produce and bountiful food on the table quickly becomes obvious.

The Peninsula's landscapes are reminiscent of the Mediterranean too, with silvery olive groves, rolling hills laced with vineyards, waterfront cafes and restaurants, roadside signs for strawberries or free range eggs and lively local markets where growers bring just-picked and just-made produce.

Our gentle maritime climate puts a very individual stamp on Mornington Peninsula wines, as do the micro-climates which result in quite different wine styles from the same grapes grown at neighbouring vineyards.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light filled family living The beauty of this house is that it focuses family activities on the living area which is light and spacious whilst being innovative and invigorating. This is the area one wants to spend most time and it allows for great interaction and conversation. Perfect for a long overdue holiday with my 2 adult sons and our old Border Collie - the space allowed us to communicate, relax and reconnect.The connection to the outdoors is a lovely feature - perfect for barbecues and outdoor dining - yep we braved it despite the cold and it was lovely. The house is well stocked and the owners generous, providing staples in case you've forgotten something. There were firelighters and plenty of wood which was wonderful as we really enjoy sitting in front of an open fire. The house would come into its own in warmer weather. The bedrooms were a little chilly but there were electric blankets and heaters we could use. We found Flinders the best location for good food but many places weren't open during the early part of week which we'd not anticipated - no bother, we just hadn't thought about it. Only disappointment? We expected the ocean to be rough so we could enjoy the rugged coastline and crashing waves but it was incredibly calm!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unique Arrival Date 08/04/2017 The house itself was certainly unique in design and located in a peaceful surroundings despite being in a developed area. It would have been good to stay there back in its early days when there were little development in the area. Despite the age of the the structure, architecturally, it's still very beautiful and has stood the test of time.
