This unique home is nestled just behind the sand dunes, and features breathtaking views of Port Phillip Bay, The Rip and Swan Bay from it's viewing deck. You'll hear the waves whilst lying in bed at night, and be able to take in the passing ships going through the heads.

It is a safe location for children, as Burrendah is situated at the end of a quiet no-through street.

Best of two destinations

Burrendah was built in the 1970s by world-acclaimed Melbourne-based architect Keith Reid and his son, John. The design shares a resemblance with the angular shape of the churches for which Keith Reid was best known. The home has been featured in the Geelong Times magazine Feb 2014.

Whilst Burrendah is situated in a quiet and peaceful street, it is just a stroll or bicycle ride to the cafes and shops of either Queenscliff or Pt. Lonsdale. There are good walking/ bike paths to either destination.

In summer, a cooling swim at the beach is practically at the door step. There are mostly small waves and some rock pools not far away to explore. In winter, the beach offers bracing walks and clean, fresh air. At times, dolphins may be seen playing in the bay.

Beautiful summer or winter

Burrendah consists of an open living room and a clean modern kitchen. This area is serviced by a reverse-cycle air-conditioner. There is a large deck off the living area with BBQ facilities and an outdoor table and chairs.

Burrendah also has the unique feature of a viewing deck, where you can look out across Swan Bay to the north, or the beach to the south. Bring binoculars to check out the ships as they travel through the Rip.

Downstairs there are three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The second bedroom has a single trundle bed. The third bedroom has four full single beds, configured as two bunks.

The bathroom consists of a separate toilet and a separate shower room. Therefore, although there is only one bathroom, it is very practical. There is also an outside shower to rinse off sand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Location, Location, Location Burrendah is truly a blast from the past. The house reflects it's 70's roots whilst having a contemporary feel about it. We found it clean, inviting and the layout was very practical for our family's needs (we have an older child so lots of stairs was not a problem). Kitchen facilities were great if (like us) you prefer to eat in and proximity to the beach was second to none. The highlight for our son was the lookout at the top where he climbed the stairs every couple of hours in order to watch the ships coming and going throughout the day (the most amazing view!). Burrendah would suit those looking for a family friendly holiday where you can leave the car at home, enjoy a clean and non-crowded beach only a short stroll away and kick back comfortably in the evenings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We had a great stay, it was very clean, but they need a new bbq, then it would be perfect. The house is set on three levels, as you enter the front door, there are three bedrooms, One with a queen bed, second bedroom has a single bed, third has two sets of bunks. Stairs to the second level where there is a toilet room, shower room and laundry room. Up some more stairs to a wonderful bright living area and kitchen, which leads out to a large decking. If your game there are some more stairs that lead to a ladder which will take you up to a fort type of area which has a great view, take care coming back down! I would recommend this property as it was very clean, bright and private with a lovely outlook.
