Take your surf board and walk 350m to "Thirteenth Beach - Cylinders" a top 20 Victorian surf beach. A short drive gets you to famous surf beaches Bells Beach, Pt Impossible, Torquay Point and Winki Pop. The children can have hours of fun in the surf at Thirteenth Beach - SLSC which is patrolled all summer or at "Raffs" on the Ocean Grove spit with generally smaller waves.
Younger children may prefer the river beaches and the children's playground on the bank of the river close to the bridge. Ice creams and fish and chips can be found close by.
Barwon Beach House is a 2 min walk from Barwon Heads Golf Club, ranked 8th best golf course in Australia which offers eighteen magnificent holes of links golf carved into the natural dune landscape. Thirteenth Beach Golf Link is ranked Australia's 5th best public access course and is a 5 min drive from the house.
Barwon heads has some wonderful cafes and numerous restaurants and these are within approximately 200m or a 5-10 min walk of the house. "Master Chef" recently filmed an episode at "The Heads" the restaurant, bar and cafe spectacularly located in a building on a pier over the Barwon River.
If you plan to eat in, the IGA supermarket is 200m away and there are a number of takeaway meal options including fish and chips and pizza as well as beautifully prepared ready to take home meals such as quiches, curries, etc from Annie's Provodore, Star fish bakery and Peppercorn foods. The high quality butcher can provide you with ingredients for your BBQ.
Barwon Heads has some terrific walks. Walking from the house through the golf course and around "the Bluff" is always a visual feast what ever the weather. The Bluff Marine Sanctuary protects 17ha of predominately sandstone and sandstone reefs, thick patches of kelp and the wrecks of two ships. Return via a coffee in town.
Barwon Beach house is a comfortable classic 1950's house with 3 bedrooms, 2 living areas, kitchen. The house has a main bathroom with bath with shower over and adjoining toilet and a second bathroom combines shower with laundry facilities.
Living Room 1 has a dining table that seats 6-8, two large 3 seater sofas. TV with DVD, wood burner fireplace and wall mounted air-conditioning unit.
Living Room 2 has one 3 seater sofa, three bean bags and bar fridge.
Older style kitchen includes electric cook top/oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, sandwich press, milk shake maker, mix master
Bedroom 1 has two single beds
Bedroom 2 has one single bed and trundle that can be brought out to bed height
Bedroom 3 has 2 sets of bunks so sleeps 4 bunks are suitable for adults
Please bring sheets, doona covers, pillow slips and towels for each person alternatively for an additional fee these can be supplied.
Large enclosed garden with fruit trees and out look to large gum trees that attract many native birds.
The property has pedestrian access to Ramsgate Terrace a quiet grassy lane at the back of the property. Parking for 2/3 cars on Ramsgate Terrace
