Description

Standard 2 bedroom cedar cabin

Set in natural bushland, our cabin features two bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and bathroom. Double bed in the main bedroom and a double bed with single over the top in the second bedroomsleeps 5. Main bed linen supplied. Extra guest's linen for second bedroom supplied for a small additional charge.

Our holiday park is uniquely set within an arboretum and botanical gardens, the park sits on a ridge between two stunning lakes and provides the perfect setting for exploring the surrounding lakes and craters country.

Visit the beautiful Guilfoyle Botanic Gardens right next to the Lakes and Craters Holiday Park

Rennies Hill Lookout again, right next to the Lakes and Craters Holiday Park for a spectacular lookout of the clover shaped Lake Bullen Merri and the stunning salt rimmed Lake Gnotuk with information signs on the lakes and surrounding landscape.

Go Zircon gemstone fossicking on the eastern beach of Lake Bullen Merri. Lots of large stones up to 17mm have been discovered.

THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND CAMPERDOWN

Lake Bullen Merri, 490ha one of the best fresh water fishing locations in Australia with a fantastic growth rate. Regularly stocked with Rainbow and Brown trout, Chinook salmon. There is also the elusive Australian Bass. True trophy fish territory

Lake Bullen Merri is also a very popular water skiing and jet skiing location that boasts deep clear open water, Boat ramps, a safe swimming beach and excellent picnic & BBQ areas. Bullen Merri’s beauty inspired noted Austrian artist Eugene von Guerard to paint the Lake in 1858.

It is still a migratory bird habitat and breeding ground for native fish. Visitors may be lucky enough to see kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, falcons, goshawks, kestrels, parrots and waterbirds. Bring your camera

Drive up Mount Leura for 360 degree magnificent views of the Lakes and Craters district.

Climb the 100 steps of the Clock Tower for a fantastic view of the town 1st Sunday of the month.

Visit the Camperdown Heritage Centre and view fascinating local history and excellent displays of early Victorian settlement.

CAMPERDOWN LEISURE ACTIVITIES

Play the beautifully laid out Camperdown 18 hole golf course

Lawn bowls, tennis courts, cricket ground and horse trials events held regularly.

Excellent facilities for radio controlled gliders, thermal and slope soarers.

Excellent fishing lakes in the immediate area includes Lake Purrumbete, Lake Tooliorook, Cobden Lake, Deep Lake, Lake Elingamite, Lake Mumblin, and Mount Emu Creek.

CAMPERDOWN BOTANICAL GARDENS AND ARBORETUM

The Camperdown Gardens land was reserved in 1869 with work being carried out by Daniel Bunce from 1870, in 1888 improvements were made under the guidance of William Guilfoyle architect of the famous Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens

The gardens were listed on the Victorian Heritage Register in 2011 due to the historic, aesthetic and scientific botanical significance. The Gardens feature three species of trees on the Significant Tree Registry – a rare African Holly, an avenue of nine Linden trees and two Himalayan Oaks. The impressive canopy also includes Elms, Oaks, Cedars and Pines from around the world.

These magnificent gardens are perched above the two volcanic crater lakes of Lake Bullen Merri and Lake Gnotuk and are a wonderful place to enjoy a picnic or BBQ free electric with your friends and family.

MT LEURA AND MT SUGARLOAF

Take time to visit this beautiful lookout and the stunning views across the rolling Lake and Craters country, encompassing Lake Corangamite to the east and Lake Colongulac towards Mt Elephant. so named by early explorers, and you will see why

Views all the way to the Grampians, Mt Cole range and the Otway ranges to the south can be taken on a clear day. A directional marker atop the lookout assists with these landmarks. If you are lucky you will see the resident falcon hunting along the ridgeline.

Why not try the Panorama Circuit, an easy, well-marked walk across to Mt Sugarloaf awaits the more energetic, and a bush reserve at the bottom of Mt Leura is a wonderful place to sit and observe the local wildlife.

CAMPERDOWN-TIMBOON RAIL TRAIL

The Camperdown to Timboon section is a wonderful family friendly bicycle trail, dotted with statuesque trestle bridges and spellbinding volcanic lakes and craters scenery. Riders and walkers traverse volcanic features listed in the Kanawinka Global Geopark, open farmland, wooded grasslands and tall wet forests on descent into the wooded Timboon valley. Why not rest up and prepare before beginning the 40km leg from the Lakes and Craters Holiday Park campgrounds

Star Gazing

The park is situated on top of a hill and just far enough away from the lights of the town, to make it a wonderful place for star gazing with telescopes and binoculars available form the Information centre subject to availability

Mt Noorat and its central feature is an entire circular crater and is a fascinating walk. Also the birthplace for Alan Marshall of ‘I can jump puddles’ fame – Terang
