It is a 5 minute walk to the local cafe, 15 minutes to Pakington Street shopping precinct with cool bars and restaurants, and a 20 minute walk to the beach. Our studio is tucked behind a 1950's post-war weatherboard house. Looking from the street you would hardly know it was there. You have a separate entrance, and private quarters, but it is adjoining the main house.
We are situated in a quiet family environment with 3 great cafes, 3 pubs, a winebar, a great Indian restaurant and an amazing independant supermarket all within a 10 minute walk. Within a 15 minute walk are all the shopping amenities of Pakington Street or Shannon Avenue. Pakington Street 'is' Geelong according to some. This where you will find a cosmopolitan strip with bars, restaurants, clothing stores, fast food outlets and more cafes. The waterfront is within walking distance too, as well as the Geelong CBD.
Our house is on the north side of Geelong West making it easy to commute to Melbourne, Ballarat and the Surf Coast. This is a great central location to explore the western side of Victoria. Queenscliff, Point Londsdale, Barwon Heads, Torquay, Bells Beach and Angelsea are all within a 35 minute drive. There are many wineries on the Bellarine Peninsula, in Golden Plains district and some in the surf coast district.
Geelong Station is about a 25 minute walk from the apartment. North Geelong Station is sbout a 15 minute walk, but it's via an industrial area and is a less attractive route for walking. There are bus services but they are not frequent. Of course, taxi's and Über are available.
Other things to note
We live in the front section of this property with our two children and Jenny the dog. You will enjoy private access, courtyard and entrance, with complete insulation and double glazed windows, the enivronment of the studio is warm, bright and quiet. We have been working hard over the past few years to make the original building our home and are now close to completion. You will however notice the backyard is yet to be landscaped grass is growing quickly and the southern weatherboards to be painted.
