Silverstone is a passive solar house which has been lovingly designed and built by the owners with easy comfortable living in mind, and sits on 8 acres of paddock, rain forest and its own fern gully with a creek. The gourmet kitchen features a timber bench top made from old Messmate timber, with gas cook top and electric oven and microwave. The large garage has direct access in to the house and kitchen. The open plan kitchen/lounge/dining has ocean views of the Southern Ocean and Cape Otway. In the lounge you will find a wood fire for those cosy nights, and a split system air conditioner/heater for when you need it. When you have had enough of the view, the lounge has a cosy leather couch and arm chairs to view the large television with free to air satellite, many DVDs to choose from, or audio books for you to enjoy in the disk player, along with a Bluetooth system so you can play your own choice of music from your device.
There are two large and roomy bedrooms. One has a split king size bed with views of the ocean and landscape, and the other has two single beds with views to the courtyard and with its own television to play DVDs . Each bedroom has its own electric wall heater, in case you should need it. The house has two toilets and one large bathroom, with walk in shower. There are wide verandas front and west of the house to enjoy outside dining and living, and a rear courtyard to also enjoy. There is on outside sink for the fish you may catch down the track at Melanesia Beach or from nearby Johanna Beach. And a Weber Q gas barbie to cook them on.
The unusual eaves were designed to look like aeroplane wings, after the old Junker aeroplanes; these allow the home to be extremely insulated and well sealed from the weather outside.
Silverstone is only a short drive from all the major attractions such as the Twelve Apostles and all the other coastal rock formations, the Otway Fly, Triplet Falls, Melba Gully, Timboon Cheese just to name a few. Lavers Hill is a 15 minute drive for breakfast/lunch/dinner if thats what you're after, or the morning paper. The house sits half way between Apollo Bay and Port Campbell, on the ocean side of The Great Ocean Road, with kangaroos and wallabies to greet you. If walking is your bag, then Silverstone sits close to the famous Great Ocean Walk, which passes not far from the front of the house itself.
