Drik Drik’s historic, heritage-listed stone Schoolhouse (c.1873), on 2 acres in a secluded rural location close to the Glenelg River National Park [great fishing canoeing etc.] .

Set in established gardens with an orchard, vegetable garden and an outdoor bath/shower. Pet friendly, securely fenced, charming rural views.

An architect designed extension offers 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, an extensive north facing deck with pergola, BBQ and pizza oven.The schoolhouse is tastefully renovated and includes a modern kitchen with dishwasher, lounge and dining area with a polished wooden floor, RC Air conditioner and a wood stove/heater.

Bedrooms have 2x queen size beds and one double bed. Single mattresses available on request. One bathroom has a bath with shower and the other a shower. Two separate toilets. Washing machine and ironing facilities. Suits families, couples or small groups.

Nestled between two historic stone churches [c.1873 and c.1901] and adjacent to an avenue of honour of Morten Bay Figs trees.Close to the Princes Highway, approximately half way between Adelaide and Melbourne.

Please be aware that it is a 1/2 hour drive to the nearest supermarket at Heywood - we suggest you shop in the way.

“Bruce was extremely welcoming, and informative. Could not ask for a better host. The DrikDrik schoolhouse is unique: entrance road lined with giant fig trees forming an avenue of honour. For those interested in the European history of rural Victoria the magnificently restored original school house is a cultural experience! Very easy to find and reach - approx 10 minutes from PacificHwy (A1) but situated in a peaceful rural environment. A great 1/2 way place to stay between Melbourne and Adelaide. Close to the Glenelg River with plentiful walks; we wished we could have stayed longer. The modern extension to school house and courtyard/deck area are an added bonus.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely the most delightful holiday stay So much more than what we expected. The accommodation was perfect, the location stunning and everything was so easy from the booking, to getting there, to exploring the area. The school has everything you would want, it's like home. The scenery is awe inspiring, and there is so much history involving the property and area. Our dogs were welcomed and they too thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The yard is safe and well fenced. Our lab really liked lying in front of the pot belly! The location allowed us to take easy drives to Portland, Heywood, Mt Gambier, Nelson and of course the stunning Glenelg river. We arrived late at night and there was a lovely warm fire going, Bruce took the time to walk us through the property and advised us on how to use the appliances. In the morning we used the fresh produce from the vegie patch making potato and rosemary damper and lemon tea cake. At first we were concerned that we had booked a place well out the way, without the convenience of a bustling township. The location is in fact perfect. Everything is close, and the short drive to the busier towns allows you to really appreciate the scenery and get a feel for the area. We are so very pleased we booked this property. There is so much to do or you can do absolutely nothing and just enjoy the serenity. We are already planning our next trip and intend to stay even longer. Barb and Bruce, thank you for a truly wonderful stay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect weekend away We had the most amazing stay here. We found Bruce and Barb to be incredibly accommodating and helpful. Would definitely come back again as we loved the views, the history and the fireplace! The alpacas were a real treat too. Highly recommend staying here, the house is gorgeous and you don't go without any of your comforts!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a lovely place to stay! Thank you so much Barb and Bruce your property is just delightful. Every little comfort is provided and with a lovely fire to sit beside and a glass of wine and a good book (great selection available by the way) a blissful way to sit out of one of the worse storms to lash Victoria to let us know winter is now with us. Cant wait to come back in better weather and take advantage of the excellent outdoor area including a pizza oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relaxing Retreat We had a fantastic stay, firstly we were welcomed by Bruce who was very friendly and informative. He had a warm wood fire waiting for us. The place was clean and had all the little extras that make your stay so much more comfortable. We had a very relaxing few days and enjoyed fresh produce from the vegetable garden. We would highly recommend this venue and hosts Barb and Bruce, thank you so much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and welcoming A beautifully renovated and historic building. We loved the fact that this building had once been the hub of its small community. Bruce and Barb welcomed us with a warm fire already burning and fresh produce from their garden. The safely enclosed yard meant we could have our dog with us for our holiday. District has plenty to see, but the peaceful deck with gorgeous views and pizza oven made it hard to be motivated to leave the schoolhouse! A wonderful place for a weekend getaway or an extended break like ours.
