Just 25 minutes east of Port Campbell along the magnificent Great Ocean Road Alkina Lodge awaits you.
The Alkina Lodges are situated amongst the un-spoilt beauty of Victoria’s coastal headlands on the Shipwreck Coast. With views of the Great Southern Ocean to the east and west and nothing to bother you but the sighing of the wind, you’ll soon find the stresses of city life slipping away.
Each Lodge has four bedrooms and is able to accommodate up to eight people, making Alkina ideal for both a romantic getaway or a gathering of friends or family. If you need to accommodate a larger group for a conference, work retreat or special occasion, all three lodges can be booked, providing accommodation for a total of twenty-four people.
The Lodges have been furnished to meet all your needs for comfort, rest and relaxation. The kitchen, with its Gaggenau appliances and stunning bench top is guaranteed to delight the gourmet cook. The beautiful dining table is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed dinner with friends. Once you have eaten, retreat to deep comfort of the lounge and enjoy the open fire, listening to music or watching your favorite movie in the television room.
The master bedroom, with its king-size beds have stunning views of the forest and ocean by day, and of the evening sky by night. Snuggle into the comfort of the bed and awake refreshed to see our local kangaroos grazing on the front lawn.
The en suite offers an experience of unparalleled luxury. Let your cares be washed away beneath the amazing shower, or enjoy the unhurried pleasure of soaking in the stunning bath as you meditate upon a star-filled sky.
The remaining three bedrooms all have queen-sized beds, which can be re-configured to king-singles to meet your needs. An additional bathroom with separate toilet and shower services these bedrooms.
Alkina is also an architectural treasure. Designed by internationally acclaimed Australian architect Glenn Murcutt and Wendy Lewin, Alkina is testament to his genius and truly is a work of art. The stunning saw-tooth roof with its high north-facing windows fill the house with light and create an extraordinary sense of space. Very little of Murcutt’s work is access to the public, so a visit to Alkina offers the opportunity not just of seeing Murcutt's work, but of experiencing intimately and in a way that is both accessible and affordable.
While the Lodges are temptation enough, they also provide the perfect place to explore the surrounding area. Visit the Twelve Apostles and the stunning coastline to the west, or the waterfalls and forests of the Otway’s to the east. Port Campbell and Apollo Bay are within easy reach. Other local delights include the gastronomic delights of Timboon’s cheeses, ice-cream and whiskey. Chocolate, seasonal berries and several renown restaurants make this an area a foodies delight.
Alkina Lodge is also within walking distance of the Moonlight Head and Wreck Beach sections of the Great Ocean Walk, making it an ideal location for walkers or those who wish to explore this stunning section of the coastal walk.
We look forward to Greeting you to our magnificent lodge and its beautiful surroundings.
