Revel in a special sense of freedom at this completely unique property.
A fabulous location facing Skenes Creek surf beach, set back about 200m, combined with huge private grounds which are bordered on three sides by Skenes Creek.
With space for more than one family group or extra friends, the house offers two separate living areas and four bedrooms (2 queen, 1 double, 1 with a set of single bunks). The comfortable home’s floor plan accommodates the larger group without anyone getting on top of each other. Additional accommodation in a rustic timber cottage for up to 5 adults or children (nb. no water or bathroom facilities in cottage). Outdoors, a paved barbeque area, and separately an outdoor deck, are available to relax on while enjoying the stunning mature landscaped garden including orchard. This property offers trout fishing in the Creek as well as surf fishing, and from October to April a grass tennis court adds more scope for outdoor activity.
For when it’s cooler, a fan boosted log burner is provided with plenty of wood supplied. Electric and oil storage heating is supplied in each room. A fully glazed sun room is sheltered by trees in summer.
The house has one bathroom with a shower, separate lavatory and a built in laundry.
Conveniently 6 km from Apollo Bay’s comprehensive shopping, shorefront market, cafés, golf course and other tourist facilities. Otway rainforest attractions including the Otway Fly are approximately 25 minutes drive away. Chris’s at Beacon Point (for fine dining) is just above the lush valley in which this property is spread. Lorne is approximately 30 minutes away and in the other direction Johanna Beach and the 12 apostles beckon.
Note, this is not a property for people looking for luxurious accommodation. It is spacious, clean, homely and well equipped. This is a beach house in the perfect place, low key, private, beloved by return visitors and with the rare benefit of huge picturesque grounds.
Willowhaven - a family haven
Everyone will take away their own special memory of a stay at Willowhaven. It could be wide ocean surf vistas, the soothing sound of the creek, the abundance of the garden and orchard, or a game of cricket on the property's oval. Small children can paddle and splash in the shallow sandy mouth of Skenes Creek, while youngsters will love to explore around the grounds. After surfing or beachcombing, teens will be able to fish, kick the football around or play music undisturbed in the rustic cottage (which has its own pot-bellied stove). A grass tennis court framed by mature trees, roses and other planting opens out before you as you walk through the orchard.
Baltic pine floors, a large capacity hot water service and a top loader washing machine are practical features. The sun room has a huge table with benches and chairs and two large sofas. The rear living areas has two sofas and various floor cushions gathered around the TV and DVD player with full free-to-air reception.
Great Southern Ocean natural beauty
The unique Southern Coast natural world is all around you here. The changing moods of the Great Southern Ocean are a gift to photographers, whether it is a glowing sunset or a storm sprayed rainbow that you capture. Spread in a lush valley below the Otway rainforest, natural beauty abounds at Willowhaven. The wagtails will want to share your breakfast on the deck, cockatoos flock the tall trees at dusk and if you are very early and quiet, you will surprise a platypus in the creek.
