Blauvelt Park was originally built as the manse for the Thomson Memorial Presbyterian Church dating from the in Terang.
It comprises a main hall; drawing room; library; TV room; formal and informal dining rooms; modern kitchen; separate laundry/boot room; two bathrooms and five bedrooms that can sleep ten people. There is also capacity for an extra two people on a sofa bed in the main bedroom.
All beds are queen size and all bedding is provided including goose down pillows, doonas and all bed linen.
The library is a quiet refuge with well over 3,000 fiction and non-fiction volumes spanning a broad range of styles and topics. There are also jigsaws and board games for those cold Winter nights.
The drawing room has a large bay window and French doors that give access directly to the garden and is a cool and restful place on Summer evenings.
The formal dining room seats 10 people and is a lovely room for evening dining with French doors open to the garden.
The TV room has a wood burning fire, a large TV screen and DVD player. There is a library of 250 or more DVDs to suit all tastes.
The kitchen is a fully functioning family kitchen with all of the appliances that would be expected at home and the pantry is well stocked with the necessary cooking and tea/coffee making essentials.
There are two bathrooms - both with claw foot baths and separate showers. Towels and toiletries are provided.
The house is hydronically and electrically heated and there are wood buring fires in the TV room and the Main Hall.
Blauvelt Park is surrounded by eight acres of wild gardens.There is an established cypress maze; orchard; tree house; rose garden and a birch labyrinth. A sheltered north facing courtyard provides a sheltered area for relaxing to the sound of a trickling fountain.
Located on the outskirts of Terang, the house is within easy walking distance of the town centre. The local golf course and swimming pool are across the road, as is the entrance to the Terang Lions Lake Walk 4.5km, which follows the edge of the dry Lake Terang and includes beautiful views of the town and the district from the hills on the far side of the lake.
Blauvelt Park is a two hour drive from Melbourne. At the heart of the Western District, it is centrally located to all that the area has to offer. Warrnambool is 30 minutes away and Port Fairy a further 20 minutes from there. Terang is just under an hour from the Twelve Apostles and just under two hours from Halls Gap at the heart of the Grampians.
Terang is on the Southwest Railway and trains run to and from Melbourne three times a day.
The local taxi service can be booked to pick you up from the station and take you to Blauvelt Park - a 5 minute drive away, or you might prefer to take the 15 minute walk.
