The House architect designed and built in 2007 is a two storey town house which my wife and I, both retired professionals, live.

The listing is for a comfortable bedroom with a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom located upstairs, all in complete privacy.

Free Wifi is available throughout the house.

Downstairs visitors will find and have access to a shared dining and cosy open plan living space that looks into a sunny and charming courtyard.

Visitors are served breakfast daily, please inform of any dietary requirements. Tea and coffee facilities are available at all times, cooking is not available

Fresh linen and towels are provided as well as a hairdryer and ironing facilities.

The street is quiet and only open to local traffic. One block away is the charming Rathdowne Village with cafes, bars and restaurants. Two tram routes and one

bus route, one hundred metres away, take you to the city in fifteen minutes. You may walk there in twenty five.

The Neighbourhood

Carlton begins at the northern edge of the CBD. It is famed for its Exhibition Gardens with its World Heritage Exhibition Building. A strikingly post-modern Melbourne Museum borders it. Visitors can walk directly from our front door in fifteen minutes.

Carlton is famous for two further features. The University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Both are easy accessible by public transport or 20 minutes walk.

The other attraction to visit is Lygon St. Block after block of restaurants, mainly Italian. Australia’s first espresso machine began operating here in the

early ‘fifties – and it still ‘hangs’ on the restaurant wall; an icon anointing Melbourne as the coffee capital of Australia, and to many, the food capital of the country as well.

In a way, we have a little bit of everything here. We love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Stay! Located on a picturesque street in Carlton, close to shops, restaurants and transport, with Melbourne CBD only a stones throw away. My room was perfect! Very clean, crisp white linen, divine pillows atop an extremely comfortable bed. The ensuite bathroom is spotless and very well appointed. Hosts Don and Jan are the loveliest people who made me feel so welcome in their home. This little gem is a place I will definitely revisit when next in Melbourne.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delightful and welcoming I felt like a beautifully cared for house guest when I stayed with Don and Jan. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It was a lovely experience, in a charming house in my favourite part of Melbourne. Canning St is exceptionally quiet, but just a stone's throw from Rathdowne Village, and with easy access to Melbourne in general.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than good If you are looking for more than a box in a tower this is the place. ideally located just 10 mins for the top of the city, you can walk it in 25 min, on a very quiet street close to shops and an excellent pub restaurant. Hosts very friendly and welcoming. Premises is modern, very clean and a comfortable bed.
