Perfect for an extended stay, the Stables were built in 1888 and refitted to self contained, sun lit, private accommodation. Split over two levels, it is fully heated (with a/c), tastefully decorated and provides great accommodation for one night or a month for 2 people.
We've designed the stables so you don't need to bring anything with you other than your clothes! Everything you expect in a hotel room and serviced apartment are provided. Soap, shampoo, hair dryer, ironing facilities, quality linen and Egyptian cotton towels as well stocked fridge and pantry and full kitchen are provided.
The Stables are at the rear of a large block (for North Fitzroy) and share the rear court yard with the main house where we live, but otherwise have independent access.
The Fridge is stocked with chocolate, cheese, milk, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, beer and wine. All new quality utensils, plates, cups, glasses, bowls, frypans, trays and saucepans. Condiments, pop corn and pancake mix provided within the price. Lavazza coffee and T2 teas included. Some food basics (pasta, tuna, rice, past sauce, soup, canned goods, cereals, sauces) are available for you to prepare meals allowing late night and hungry travellers something healthy to eat.
The stables have really good privacy & security including their own private access from the street. As we also live on the property, many of our guests have told us how reassuring it is to know that a helping hand is close-by if needed. We thoroughly clean and disinfected the Stables immediately prior to every stay.
A porta-cot with sheets and blanket is also available as is a child-proof gate for the stairs.
The stables are suited to both leisurely as well as business stays. We are experienced travellers and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly.
The apartment was originally stables for horses that serviced the Victorian home located on the same property and with which it shares the rear garden.
A ground floor area with full kitchen and an adjoining living area including HDTV, DVD, Cable TV, WiFi, coffee table, couches and desk. Upstairs is a large double bedroom with good natural light, new quality queen size bed, expensive linen & pillows including quilt, electric blanket, bed side tables/lights and second TV.
All kitchen items, linen, towels and basic toiletries are quality items and included within the price. The separate bathroom is located off the bedroom on the 2nd level. Please note, the toilet is located on the ground level as a powder room.
Falconer Street is a classic wide street with ample unrestricted car parking right out the front. For cyclists, the Stables have on-site and secure undercover storage for bikes.
More than the usual extras are provided to ensure your stay is as hassle free and comfortable as possible.
As we live at the front of the property, we are typically available to assist you or provide advice, but will respect your privacy and leave you to enjoy the Stables.
Possibly North Fitzroy's best location with a mix of accessibility and a beautifully peaceful neighbourhood within walking distance of Edinburgh Gardens, Queens Parade and St George's Road shops and cafés. Park within 100m as is Rushall train station. Close to the Old Colonialists nursing home, Merri Creek, Yarra and Capital City bike trails connecting the inner city with outer suburbs in all directions.
Quality food and coffee within 200m which is one of the best attractions of North Fitzroy. Friendly and peaceful location with minimal traffic. 5 minutes to Smith and Brunswick Streets food, cafés and shops.

Excellent accessibility to Melbourne's sporting precinct (MCG, AAMI Stadium, Melbourne Park) via the train (5 stops) and tram systems as well as the CBD and Etihad Stadium. We are very central to shops, public transport and some of the best food available in inner Melbourne. Queens Parade and St Georges Rd shops are within walking distance with Smith and Brunswick Streets being less than a 5 minute drive away. Rushall train station (South Morang line) is 150m away.
If you need an inexpensive hire car, Flexi-car have a car pod within 300m of the Stables and you should consider signing up with them. This works well.
The Capital City and Merri Creek Bike trails are 120m away at Rushall train station (Sth Morang line). This intersects with almost every other bike path in the inner city, right on your doorstep.
By train, the MCG is 5 stops away (12 mins), Flinders Street is 6 stops (15 mins) and Southern Cross Station (Etihad Stadium) is 7 stops away. No. 86 tram to the City is 400m away and no. 112 tram is 800m away. 504 bus service 75m away. Two rechargeable MyKi transport cards are provided for you to use.
Eastern Freeway approx 1.5km away and the airport is approximately 25 minutes away in off peak times.
Coming from the airport, come down the Tullamarine freeway, exit left at Brunswick Rd and go ALL the way to the end. Don't deviate. Brunswick Road becomes Holden Street which then becomes Rushall Crescent. Falconer Street is first on your right directly opposite Rushall train station.
