Bright sun lit studio apartment all to yourself on the doorstep of Gertrude Street Fitzroy So many great bars, restaurants, galleries, cafes and pubs just a few steps away, plus walking distance to the CBD. My apartment is clean, tidy and on the ground floor filled with natural light. Great for solo adventurers, couples and business travellers.
1 minute walk to Gertrude St bars, restaurants, galleries, cafes and pubs. There's designer boutiques, factory outlets, vintage everything, vinyl stores and the Rose Street market on weekends.
Being a hipster village, the coffee around here is outstanding and the food is fantastic - try Belle's Hot Chicken on my corner, George Calombaris' modern Greek offering Jimmy Grants, tasty Ramen from Shop Ramen, Pizza at Ladro on Gertrude St, all vegan by Smith and Daughters, and fancy night out at Cutler & Co. Enjoy the many bars, pubs and cafes and restaurants on offer. Live music and a famous Melbourne latte - eclectic haunts and op shops, local art galleries.
Local music venues include The Standard, Labor in Vain, Yah Yah's, The Tote, The Workers Club, Paris Cat for live Jazz and it's a short walk to the Old Bar, Bar Open, The Lounge and the Night Cat.
Other awesome night spots within stumbling distance are The Everleigh - an award winning bar above Belle's Diner, the Upside Rooftop Bar, Panama Dining Room and bar, Naked for Satan, Bimbos, Napier Hotel, Union Club, The Marquis of Lorne and the Rainbow Hotel. Fitzroy is the home of Melbourne's live music scene and has a drinking venue for just about every taste.
Walk 10 minutes in any direction and you'll either end up in Collingwood, North Fitzroy, Lygon Street Carlton or the city. Directly in between Brunswick Street and Smith Steet, enjoy the best of Fitzroy and Collingwood. Many parks nearby such as Carlton Gardens and Melbourne Museum and the Imax 3D cinema, Fitzroy Gardens & Tresury Gardens. Also short distance to Victoria Street Richmond and CBD.
Major Melbourne Sports precincts such as the MCG or Rod Laver Arena are just a suburb away as are Melbourne University 3km, RMIT City Campus 1.7km and Australian Catholic University is just next door 650meters
There are many options in the City to see a movie close by, but for a true Melbourne experience I recommend walking through the Carlton Gardens to Lygon street - it's a 15 to 20 minute walk.
NOVA CINEMA in Carlton is located at 380 Lygon street. I would recommend eating either before or after your movie at TIAMO's which has been a Melbourne institution for over 30 years - famous for its provincial Italian menu that has never changed at 303 Lygon Street opposite the Nova Cinema. In the direct vicinity you'll also find 'BRUNETTI'S' for authentic Italian coffee, cake and ice cream. 'READINGS' bookshop another Melbourne institution is right here also - you are right near Melbourne University here.
Gertrude St, Brunswick St and Smith St are all infamous Melbourne Streets home to art galleries, clothing shops, vintage wear, bookshops, record shops, art supplies, jewellery shops, home furnishings as well as a plethora of bars, cafes and restaurants This is a great area to be in for a true Melbourne experience.
