Located in the leafy suburb of Hawthorn East. This modern, light filled, one bedroom unit is located at the back of the main residence. It has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and laundry. It is set in a beautiful garden with a deck that looks over the rose garden.

There is easy access to public transport, bike paths, shops and restaurants, and CityLink. 10 minutes walk to train and tram. 10 minutes to CBD by train. 5 minutes walk to closest shopping centre.

The Space

This lovely, light filled, ground floor, modern unit is connected to the back of the main house on the property. The entrance is separate. There is a small deck overlooking the shared garden, where you can sit and watch the birds during the day, and listen to the frogs at night. There is a medium-sized, friendly dog, called Ched, who spends most of his time inside the main house with my father-in-law.

I live on the adjacent property with my husband and children. There is a low fence in between. We have chickens, a rabbit, and a cat, but they are contained on our side of the garden, which is not shared.

Bedroom: Built in robes, double bed, with space for a cot or single mattress on the floor. These are available on request. If required a double mattress can be provided for the living room floor, depending on the number of guests.

Bathroom: Toilet, bath, separate shower, and basin. Hand holds and sitting bench for the less mobile.

Laundry: New top loader washing machine, and new drier. Linen and towels supplied. There is access to a clothes line outside.

Open plan dining and living space: Views over the garden, large dining table that seats six, couch, easy chair, and digital TV. There is an in-built work desk. Reverse cycle air conditioner and ceiling fan.

Kitchen: Open plan and equipped with almost all the utensils you would ever need. Fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven, gas stove, dishwasher. Coffee machine. Lovely view over the garden from the sink

Toys: We have plenty of toys for children to play with if you wish to borrow them. We can provide a high chair if needed.

Guests have access to the unit by walking down the driveway to the back of the property. The path to the flat is wide and quite smooth, and there are no steps.

I live next door and can help with planning your stay in Melbourne, and with any issues that might arise. My father-in-law lives in the main house to which the unit is attached.

Your privacy will be respected. However, as the garden is shared, there will be people walking past the unit from time to time. Most of the windows into the unit are shielded with well-planted bushes, and there are venetian or roller blinds on all windows internally.

Hawthorn East is a very safe, predominantly family neighbourhood. It is well connected with transport, and has many great places to eat and drink.

Parks with playgrounds: 1 min walk

Closest cafe - 1 min walk

Indoor shopping centre with Coles, chemist, cafes, restaurants and other specialty shops: less than 10 mins walk

Outdoor shopping centre with gourmet supermarket, fantastic greengrocer, butcher, cafe, and pizzeria 10 mins walk.

Camberwell shopping centre on Burke Road: 20 mins walk

Other nearby restaurants include those serving Italian, Thai, Modern Australian cuisine, and many more.

Yarra walking and bike trail: 5 mins walk

Train station on Glen Waverley line: 10 mins walk.

Number 72 tram: less than 10 mins walk

Number 70 and 75 trams: 15 mins walk

624 bus stop: 5 mins walk

Monash Citylink freeway entrance: 2 mins by car

There is on street parking available.

No smoking at any time, anywhere on the property.

This is a residential area with many young children close by, so please be considerate and keep noise to a minimum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really enjoyed this property We loved staying in this Unit. It had everything we needed and was located in a lovely neighbourhood. The garden was peaceful and pretty. It is close to a variety of shops and nice cafes. The photos are a very good indication of what this lovely Unit is like. We will most definitely be staying there again, next time in Melbourne.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a fabulous place to stay We really enjoyed staying here. The unit was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The location is perfect, with easy access to shops, places to eat and public transport. Hosts were lovely and we hope to be able to stay again soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An oasis in the city We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the garden unit. It was so peaceful it was like being in the country. You could sit on the deck and watch the birds flit around the roses. It was just a pity that we had so much rain, but on the nice days we were tempted not to go out anywhere! The unit had everything we wanted and we were very comfortable and cosy. Having the coffee shop on the corner was a bonus, because we do like good coffee! Eva and her family are delightful and we enjoyed Chad the dog welcoming us home.
