Situated in the heart of Avenal on historic Bank St, the Bank St Cottage is the perfect place for a quiet relaxing weekend. You can explore the town and the historic six-arch sandstone bridge, search for Red kellys grave father of Ned Kelly in the old cemetary, check out the original Cobb&Co coach house, or stroll the country lanes and byways. If you are feeling peckish, Avenel is 20 minutes drive from 2 of Victorias best wineries, Mitcheltons, Tahbilk and Fowels is 3 mins drive. All 3 wineries have excellent restaurants and cellar door. Or if your are feeling more adventourous, the famous Heathcote wineries are a 30 minute country drive.

Follow in Ned Kellys wake and take a breathtaking drive through Kelly Country. Rocky granite outcrops separate the breathtaking countryside on the way to The Ruffy Produce Store, a highly recommended eatery. Its a lovely drive. Check out the waterfalls at Gooram Falls and follow The Hughes Creek back to Avenel. There is a popular story of how the young Kelly saved a boy from drowning in the local creek. It is said that he was rewarded with a green sash which he wore the day he was shot. Certainly there is evidence that Ned Kelly recorded his father's death at the local Court House. Fortunately, after an exhausting day sampling the regions fabloulous food and wine, you can sit back at our Avenel cottage retreat, light a fire, and recover from the days journeys with a fantastic pizza from the legendary Bank St Pizzaria 2 doors away, or sample some of Scotty's produce from Avenel Meats across the road. The cottage is a short walk from the Harvest Home boutique hotel, train station and post office

The Master bedroom has a comfortable King sized bed, built in robe and sitting area. The sun comes through the Edwardian stained glass window, making a lovely retreat to read the papers or enjoy breakfast. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed, and the house is perfect for a group of three guests. Linen, doonas and towells are provided along with soaps and shampoos.

Full modern kitchen facilities include the stove and gas cooktop, fridge, dishwasher, kettle and toaster, and of course cutlery and cooking equipment. The modern bathroom has shower, toilet and sink. The sitting room has a french dining table for 6, air conditioner, wood fire heater and 42" TV.

The cottage sits on a large block with the historic Bank St at the front and paddocks with sheep or cattle through elm and peppercorn trees at the back.
