A fun and quirky way of enabling our guests to enjoy this magic spot we live in. Just 7 km out of Fish Creek towards Wilsons Promontory, we've parked our glamping caravan on the highest part of our 2.5 acre property "Savages Garden", giving you fantastic views of the surrounding rolling hills of Gippsland and The Prom.

The van comes complete with annex, BBQ, outdoor setting, hammock and parking right outside your door.

It has a dinette, kitchenette with sink, 4 burner gas hotplate, oven and grill, fridge, TV and sleeping arrangements for two. Standard set up a Queen bed, but can be set up as two singles by prior notice. Note this does incur a once off charge of $30, payable direct upon check in. We can also set up two fold out beds in the annex for an extra two persons.

Close by is your amenities block: an open air shower with views of The Prom, a composting toilet and a separate washing up area.

Location: perfect, peaceful and quiet, except when the wind blows, but that's Gippsland for you. You may be woken up by the "neighbours": 550 Holstein-Friesian dairy cows munching away on the other side of the fence. Or the kookaburras, magpies, galahs, rosellas and other birds who frequent "Savages Garden". Be mesmerised by a pair of wedge-tailed eagles soaring effortless overhead, looking for a meal down below.

To get here, follow the C444 from Fish Creek to The Prom for 7km. You'll see the Basia Mille Winery sign, which is Savages Road. We're the first property on the right after 640m, just enter thru the second gate {with the blue flag} and drive up to the glamping site. Shadow, our dog, will most likely greet you first. Don't worry, you won't run her over, just be mindful that's she's blind in her right eye

Don't listen to your GPS telling you to turn right onto Waratah Road, just keep going straight ahead, otherwise you'll be going the long and hard way

Your interests? Nearly all all very well covered here:

Fish creek is the central point on the South Gippsland Rail Trail, 72 km stretching from Leongatha to Port Welshpool. Reasonably level without too many steep inclines, it follows the old railway line through the Gippsland countryside. Numerous small towns along the way offer great excuses to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat.

Despite Fish Creek having a permanent population of just over 200, the township boasts three galleries: Gecko Gallery, Ride the Wild Goat, and The Open Art Spaces at the Fish Creek Hotel.

Three cafes and the Fish Creek Hotel, or the Fishy Pub as we call it, make it a hard choice. Especially since...

We're located between two wineries, Waratah Hills and Basia Mille, who offer wine tastings, cellar door sales and grazing platters, with views to match. Unfortunately Waratah Hills is closed until further notice due to an ownership change.

We're only a 15 minute drive to the entrance to Wilsons Promontory National Park, and 45 minutes to the settlement at Tidal River.

The beaches down here are exquisite. Where else can you be on a beach that stretches for miles in the middle of summer, and you can count less than 100 people? Shallow Inlet is a great place to launch your boat from the beach and try to catch your dinner.

You don't have to go far, since "Savages Garden" is also the home of Aashay Indian Accessories, better known locally as "Serena's Shed". Serena travels to India regularly to source fantastic textiles and clothing from small family run businesses, and displays them all in her shed. It may look like a typical farm shed from the outside, but once you step through that door it's like an Aladdin's Cave. Guests enjoy a 10 discount on their purchases, excluding sale items.

Unfortunately an experience with one of our guests has necessitated the implementation of a security deposit. The guests left at 11.30am, but left all their gear and provisions in the caravan so were obviously not checking out on time. They did not answer their mobile nor did they respond to our text messages. Not only did this mean we could not get it ready for the next guest, it also threw our daily schedule into disarray

Your deposit will be refunded thru the Stayz system after you've checked out on time unless any prior arrangements have been made with us regarding a later check-out and there are no breakages, damage or missing property, for which you will be charged.
