Boogoodoo is a "Grand Design" style home set on more than 20 acres on a peninsula in to Westernport Bay, near the Phillip Island bridge. There are sea views to the north, south and west and the house has been designed to take it all in. It's one of a kind. Offering up to 6 people a rare coastal experience. With water to 3 sides every window has a sea view.
Boogoodoo is short for Boogoodoogada which means Rainbird in an Aboriginal dialect. The house design reflects this with it's unique glass beak staring out to sea.
This 20 acre waterfront conservation haven is a private peninsula and home to beautiful sea birds, land birds and wildlife with a remarkable, sculptural dwelling which is the occasional home of a creative couple. Designed with a renowned architect and built by the owners, so attention to detail has been paramount.
Opposite the Phillip Island bridge, Boogoodoo features panoramic 270° sea views from the house that include other islands such as French, Churchill and Elizabeth plus the wild side of Mornington Peninsula and the Corinella cliffs. Add rural vistas and the Bass hills and you feel much further than 90 mins from Melbourne CBD. Phillip Island and Kilcunda surf beaches are 12 minutes from the front gate. Visit the penguins and all The Island can offer.
Roam the private beach at gardens edge plus kilometres of shoreline beyond. Cross the garden in another direction and there lies an island that can be reached on foot at low tide for a beautiful nature walk. At high tide you can take our 2 person canoe and 1 person kayak for a paddle around that island or up the Bass River. Relax and enjoy the twinkling lights of villages around the bay at night from an artists retreat.
The big living/dining room has a spacious, well thought out kitchen with euro appliances so cooking for a handful of friends or family is fun. There is also a TV lounge with smaller dining table and covered deck with BBQ. Master with ensuite is off the big living area whilst through the giant sliding door the double and twin bedrooms plus shower room are off the TV lounge.
Pets: Dogs only by arrangement due to conservation and local law.
Boogoodoo also offers your horse a holiday at certain times of year with quality agistment next door and a section of beach for riding and swimming with a sand roll. Please ask re other pets.
Depending on the season Boogoodoo is home to as many as 1000 black swans plus
raptors and many species of land and sea birds including migratory birds that fly 12,000km between here and Antarctica. BYO binoculars to see the shy ones. You may also see kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats or small native species so go slow down the drive. There is always something to see regardless of the season.
As well as beach walks Boogoodoo has its own tracks to meander along.
Stay in and watch a dvd or play a game or turn off the lights to watch electrical storms over Melbourne and South Gippsland. Enjoy the massive sky with amazing cloud formations, stunning sunrises, sunsets and starry nights. Natures stunning backdrop provides inspiration for artists, photographers, writers or those who just want to relax.
This is NOT a party house so is not available for those who want more than a few visitors, to partake in noisy pursuits, wild cavortings or hooning around.
However, if you love and respect wildlife and seek a place to unwind, enjoy a slower pace of life, laughter and simple pleasures with loved ones then Boogoodoo will be perfect for you.
Have you ever seen a whole rainbow from end to end?
Boogoodoo: A sanctuary in every sense.
" I felt like I was walking around in an episode of Grand Designs. The view and landscape are soothing, the house splendid and the art inspiring. A sense of fun and exclusivity pervades. I loved feeling like I was somewhere truly unique and amazing. Very Private"
" Rock Star Wow. An absolute treat to be surrounded by art and wildlife. I felt like I had the privilege of being invited into the private space of two amazing and creative people. Thank you for making it available for others to share. Perfect for those who seek nature, wildlife and art (but want to do it with style).
* I stay at Boo twice a year for about 6 nights each trip. After the craziness of apartment life in Manila and Sydney I find it is the perfect spot to recharge my physical, mental and emotional batteries. The space of the wild outdoors and space within the home give me the space to just "be".

"Experience of time out of time... a connection to the vast openness that enfolds this zen like place. Everything has been beautifully designed & carefully considered, with an overall continental feel. Loved the giant sliding wooden door from one living space to the other. Comfort was top class. All needs & wants met - exceptionally so.
And, oh, the sunsets! Beyond words.. Especially when viewed from the huge sloping window. The bayside walks seemed quite a different walk each time we did them. Multitudes of wildlife to watch. Boats sailing past. . And let's not forget all those twinkling night lights across the ?harbour?
It's all about the heightened awareness that gently settles around you here.

If you are looking for the ideal place to relax and feel one with nature Boogoodoo is the place.
20 acres of picturesque, natural landscape and the walk that you will be tempted to do every day will take you along the foreshore that looks out to Phillip Island.
The artist in you is going to be bursting with inspiration. My husband and I spent two wonderful
months there. We had the time of our lives working on our own creative art.
The owners are extremely creative in their own right and have built this house with lots of love.
Cannot recommend it enough.

"You can't ignore the weather. You are completely surrounded by it on all sides. The way the light hits the water is ever changing. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we felt completely immersed in nature. It is such an inspiring, creative, uplifting house in such a special location we really felt we got away from the city craziness and back to a simpler calmer lifestyle.
Thanks so much for having us."

Apart from a few walks I just sat happily at the "Beak" window as I had a bad back. Apart from a huge eagle I could see Phillip, Churchill, French, Elizabeth and Reef Islands but am told there is another one so I will have to return soon.
Nigel - October 2014
We have had the good fortune to stay at Boogoodoogada a number of times over the last 3 years. Normally we don't like to go to the same place twice as there is so much to see when travelling Australia but we felt very "at home" so returning was a great pleasure.
I make jewellery so set up all my equipment on a big table at the windows and got busy although I often found I had been simply gazing in reverie for ages :-)
We loved the peace and quiet, birds and walks. Some days were calm and utterly perfect but we equally enjoyed the wild weather and incredible storms. I have never seen so many rainbows. We shall return.
