Description

Phillip Island's oldest cottage restored to its original charm. For a very special experience this is indeed a beautiful home in a picturesque setting with tranquil views over beautiful Swan Bay. Open fire place, vaulted ceilings, chandeliers and old world charm blend together with modern day comforts. The house boasts four bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas, large country kitchen and dining with a wood stove for home style cooking and for the less adventurous, microwave, electric hotplate / oven and BBQ.There is also a herb garden to compliment the best cooking.

The two delightful double bedrooms with comfortable period furnishings and main bathroom form a parents' retreat from the rest of the house. Two additional bedrooms have single beds. There are two bathrooms, one with a separate shower and enormous claw-foot bath to soak in, the other a shower over bath. Linen can be provided at an extra charge. Walk through the French doors of your bedroom to the expansive deck and enjoy the breathtaking views across the bay or gaze over the 100 year old orchard and cottage garden.

Experience the charm of historic Rhyll with only a 5 minute drive to the Island's main town, Cowes, the Penguin Parade and the Grand Prix track. In the cool of the evenings relax in front of the open fire and take in the ambience of beautiful Swan Bay. Perfect for couples, families or groups.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Relaxing, old world, beach house cottage. Our stay at captain Locks cottage was an amazing experience. We loved the charm of the old building and all that came with it. Clawfoot bath, wood oven, old creaky floorboards, and beautiful surrounding French doors to the balcony. The views were amazing and the house felt really bright and airy and was a lot larger than expected from a "cottage ". It was beautiful to catch the sunrise from the balcony or the beautiful room that had morning sun flood through. This room also had a beautiful open fire and piano. The garden was spectacular and we enjoyed soaking up the sun on the deck chairs and the smells of spring, and the sounds of birds in the surrounding trees. A beautiful stay with family and lasting memories, including wood oven scones and a pot of tea, Sunrises, open fire, peace and tranquility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inviting, warm and picturesque My daughter and I are from Perth and we treated my elderly parents from Gippsland to five days at Captain Locks Cottage. The cottage was warm and spacious and very comfortable. Loved the fireplace and the exceptional views, the gardens and the natural light to every room. Many wonderful memories made. We hope to return again in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Close to the beach This property has the potential to be something truly magical. Living and dining room furnishings are tired and in need of new life. I could see the ground beneath the house from my bedroom floor through the floorboards. Kids loved playing in the garden and the close proximity to a quiet beach
