Venus Bay

Venus Bay, a small coastal town located 165km from Melbourne, is one of Victoria's best kept holiday secrets.

The town is nestled into the sand dunes on a narrow peninsula of land bordered on one side by the ocean beaches of Bass Strait and on the other by the calm waters of Anderson Inlet.

The golden sandy beaches stretch for 22km and include 5 magnificent surf beaches. The beach is patrolled by surf lifesavers during the summer months. The huge beaches are great for surfing, ocean fishing, swimming, walking, windsurfing, body surfing and beachcombing.

Explore the rugged natural beauty of Venus Bay with a bushwalk in Cape Liptrap Coastal Park to spot the wildlife and admire the striking scenery. Visit Cape Liptrap Lighthouse or try some of the boating experiences.

The Tarwin River flows into Venus Bay providing a tidal river which is perfect for river and estuary fishing. Fishing platforms along the bank provide excellent access to the river for anglers. Alternatively, cycle the bike path from Venus Bay to Tarwin Lower or just stroll along the boardwalk which follows Tarwin River.

Anderson's Inlet is the state's longest sand spit. Stroll along the 2km walking path, discover the rich bird life in the wetlands and mangroves or try fishing in the Inlet's sheltered waters.

Venus Bay is also central to many natural attractions in the South Gippsland area, situated midway between Wilsons Promontory National Park and Philip Island.

Venus Bay has a general store, several cafes/takeaway's and a number of speciality shops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing time, Amazing place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! I had bought a friend from America over to see Venus Bay to which he enjoyed his stay greatly. I was a bit unsure by the recent negative review but decided to give it a go with the past positive reviews. It was a neat and tidy home with many features offered such as Television's in each room, tea, coffee, some spices, clean linen, bed sheets, towels ect. There was a natural feel to the place as surrounding the home was native tree's and bushes which is what I love when I travel to any place. Needless to say the view was amazing! 360 degree view offered by the home. It was beautiful having a morning cuppa while looking over the inlet and surrounding land. Thank you for a great little holiday!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Endless Rattle! I have thought and thought about leaving a bad review - but people need to not waste their money on this place like we did. Unfortunately this accommodation needs some honest reviews. The owners were lovely via email and we were so excited about our stay at Endless View. In its credit - the views were nice. There were also TV's in every room - which the kids enjoyed. BUT.... It looked like no-one had been there for ages. The grass was overgrown. The gardens were unkempt. Bull-ants need to be controlled. There was clutter and rubbish piled under the carport area. The house smelled. There was an AWFUL rattle from above the fireplace on the outside of the building. It was CONTINUOUS and drove us crazy! (and we have 4 kids - we are used to noise!) There was sand in the beds. The oven was DISGUSTING. Definitely not worth what we paid.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very run down untidy, cluttered property Under croft garage and outside area, very untidy, cluttered. Laundry, dirty mop and filthy rag in basin, stuff everywhere, no washing powder, dirty sponges and used soaps on window ledge, dirty used sponges in kitchen, filthy kitchen cupboard under sink, I cleaned this and bought new sponges, several chipped plates and mugs, we had to clean microwVe, also empty toaster of crumbs, filthy stove top oven and griller , no axe to cut wood, fire full of ash, chimney rattled and made an horrendous noise the while time we were there, we had very strong winds, no soap in bathroom, we had to buy soap no mattress protector on bed, we have stayed in a lot of holiday homes, many through Stayz, this is the worst house we have ever come across, could not recommend this to anyone, it may have a tv in every room and endless views but to me. The most important thing is absolute cleanliness and tidiness, this house is lacking very much in both, could not give it a star rating at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truly endless views We stayed here over the cup weekend of 2013, the position of the property is excellent, 15 min walk to No 3 beach, up higher than any other place and the balcony runs the entire circumference of the house, 360 deg views, spectacular. We were a party of three couples and had plenty of room and the amenities were endless, nothing missing. We would definitely return, owners were very accommodating and helpful.
