Venus Bay is a small coastal town just shy of two hours drive from Melbourne, one of Victoria's best kept holiday secrets. This sleepy holiday town boasts 22 kms of pristine sandy surf beaches and is nestled in the dunes between the roaring surf of Bass Strait and calm waters of Anderson Inlet.
Venus Bay has 5 magnificent golden sandy surf beaches. Beach 1 is patrolled by surf lifesavers during the summer months. The huge beaches are great for boarding, ocean fishing, swimming, walking, kite surfing and beachcombing.
Andersons Inlet/ Tarwin River
Anderson's Inlet is the state's longest sand spit. You can walk along the 2km walking path and discover the wide variety of bird life in the wetlands and mangroves or try fishing in the Inlet's sheltered waters. The Tarwin River is excellent for river and estuary fishing. Fishing platforms along the bank provide excellent access to the river for anglers.
Cape Liptrap Coastal Park
Stretching along the coast from the sand barrier of Point Smythe to the sheltered waters of Waratah Bay, Cape Liptrap Coastal Park has strikingly beautiful scenery.
Walk to Point Smyth, visit the Cape Liptrap lighthouse or explore the Walkerville lime kilns.
Venus Bay is central to many attractions of eastern Victoria including Phillip Island, Wilsons Prom, Cape Patterson, Cape Liptrap and a short drive to the larger townships of Inverloch, Leongatha and Wonthaggi.
