Tree Change Cottage is located in Barkers Creek, on the outskirts of Castlemaine. It is surrounded by an acre of lush garden which leads down to the creek which is inhabited by wild ducks, frogs and native animals.
The self-contained cottage is set up to make your stay as easy and relaxing as possible. It is ideal for young families as a portacot, high chair, books and toys are available on request. Parents can sit back under the shady trees with a drink, while their children play and explore. There's a trampoline, slide and sandpit. There is even a fire pit for toasting marshmallows! Guests are welcome to pick fruit from our trees and collect eggs from Stella and Zelda, our friendly chooks. The property is fully fenced, so it's safe for children and dogs to roam.
There is lots to do in the area. Nature lovers will enjoy scrambling up the giant boulders on top of Mount Alexander, or exploring Mount Franklin, Vaughan Springs or the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens. Food lovers are spoilt for choice with a plethora of cafes, fine dining restaurants and gastro pubs, as well as wineries, cideries and microbreweries. Local produce can also be sampled at the many regional markets. Castlemaine has a thriving arts scene and there are many festivals, gigs, theatre productions and exhibitions happening throughout the town.
