The notable and historic towns of Maldon and Newstead and Castlemaine are on the Bendigo route and Talbot, Clunes and Creswick are on the road to Ballarat.
These towns are full of historic buildings and home to coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, boutique shopping and weekly farmers markets.
The Central Goldfields has wonderful weekend farmers markets selling wine and regional produce and a visit to the famous Talbot market is one for the diary
Avoca is a twenty minute drive away and is a lead in to the beautiful Blue Pyrenees area with its famous wineries.
An hours drive to Ararat with the Blue Pyrenees ranges as backdrop is also highly recommended.
