Welcome to "Kyandra"
Located 28km west of Ararat, this 92 hectare property is nestled at the base of Mt William, the highest peak in the Grampians National Park.
Kyandra Cottage is a perfect retreat for weekend getaways and lengthy breaks. The views are breath-taking and the variety of flora and fauna are extensive.
The cottage accommodates 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children in 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen size bed whilst there are 2 single beds in the other room, both have wardrobe space and drawers.
There is one bathroom with shower and flush toilet.
The kitchen is equipped with a microwave oven, gas stove and refrigerator, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.
The living area has a wood heater to warm the cottage during the colder months, a TV, DVD and radio/CD player which accepts MP3 players. A glass sliding door opens out from the dining room table onto a large outside deck which faces west. It's the perfect place to sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the serenity whilst gazing out over the ever changing panorama of the mountain range. A pathed patio on the other side of the house faces east and is the right spot to watch the sun rise and bask in the early morning sunshine.
Solar panels and storage batteries provide electricity and tank water is supplied for all domestic usage.
The property is pet friendly, provided that the animal is kept outside and will not interfere with the wildlife. A kennel is available.
Wildflowers and orchids abound at varying times of the year. Wildlife can be seen regularly wandering through the bush as well as many birds frequent the native habitat surrounding the property. A fire pit is provide outside for use in the winter months, toast marshmallows whilst you sit outside and wonder at the enormity of the night skies in the bush.
The Grampians area has many walking tracks, that cater to all levels of experience, Mt William Picnic Ground and Kalymna Falls are close to the property and maps are provided to show you the closest attractions.
Moyston is the ideal base from which to explore the region's many natural attractions and the vineyards of the district. Halls Gap, Ararat and Stawell are all about a 30 mins drive away, whilst Lake Fyans and Lake Bellfield are about 45 mins. Local wineries include Clayfields at Moyston, Seppelts, Bests and Grampians Estate in Great Western and Langhi Ghiran and Montara near Ararat. A little further away is the area around Avoca with multiple award winning wineries to visit.
Moyston has a Community Dinner the first Friday of each month which is widely attended by locals and visitors, three days of Sheep Dog Trials in March, a two day horse Endurance ride in May, Easter Saturday Market and local football and cricket matches during the seasons. Come and watch them played on the MCG (Moyston Cricket Ground) where football began.
