A comfortable and beautiful eco passive straw bale & mud brick haven. After over a year, Casa Abierta will provide group accomodation from late May in 2018. To reflect our evolution, we will be loading updated photos soon. The house is built for all seasons and is a pleasure to be in. For added comfort there is cooling upstairs and a wood burner downstairs. With 6 generous bedrooms and 2 lounging areas, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs, the house can accommodate 10 guests, including children. The beds are: 1 king, 3 Queen, 1 double and 2 single, with room to spare. Set on a couple of acres, Casa Abierta is perfect for a large group of friends, or family gatherings. With an open plan large kitchen and dining area, connected to the lounge space, you can relax inside while you watch the children outside ... or go enjoy the garden, with its Silver Birches, Maples and Manchurian Pears. The property has easy access to walking paths in Blue Gum Gully.
Stanley village is just over 8 kms from historic Beechworth, in NE Victoria. This is orchard country, known for fine food and wine, walking, cycling and mountain bike riding. Casa Abierta is on the outskirts of Stanley, within reach of the local pub and other local curiosities, either by foot, bike or car. Come and experience slow living in a beautiful natural environment. A place to unwind and share time with loved ones.
Things to do:
Borrow a book. Play hide and seek, or a game of croquet or badminton outside. Throw a frisbee, kick a ball or play boules in front of the shed. If you are lucky you might chance upon a Tawny Frogmouth, Koala or local Wallaby. There are usually Crimson Rosellas, Kookaburras, Sugar Gliders, Wood Ducks and Frogs. At night there are Boobook Owls. Bring your bikes if you like cycling, and walking shoes to explore suggested walking routes. A 5 minute potter to the Stanley oval and tennis courts, and a 10 minute stroll to the Stanley Pub, for family or fine dining. For cafes, shops and a variety of restaurants, venture 10 minutes by car to Beechworth.
