Within Bright itself you can enjoy a bike ride along the rail trail, discover the many walks short or longer whatever takes your fancy or capabilities, swim in the Ovens River either at Goldfield Holiday Units direct access to the river or at the swimming hole at the bridge.
For the golfer Bright has an 18 hole course set amongst tree lined fairways and grassed greens, motorised golf carts are available for hire if required.
For the more adventurous you can go horse riding, 4 wheel driving, Para gliding, or abseiling
Visit the Ovens and King Valley wineries, you can also take in the Milawa area to taste the delectable olives, nuts, mustards and cheeses that are all on offer. You will also find berry farms, apple orchards to name a few. Situated nearby to Mt Hotham, Dinner Plain, Falls Creek and Buffalo snowfields in the winter or great walks in the warmer months, enjoyment is yours for the asking. Hang gliding is also available. Cyclist enthusiasts enjoy the challenge of a bike ride through Harrietville onto Mt Hotham or up to Buffalo the many choices are yours to do.
The historical towns of Beechworth, Yackandandah and Wandiligong are an enjoyable easy day trip to explore and return to Bright.

Situated just over 300km from Melbourne, options of your travel itinerary are yours to choose either a delightful drive awaits you up the Hume Freeway on through the beautiful King Valley or a train ride from Spencer Street on V Line to Wangaratta and then a V Line coach ride onto Bright. We are an 80 minute commute from Albury airport.
Bright is approximately 300km (3.5hrs) from Melbourne travel along the Hume Freeway (M31) to the Wangaratta exit and follow Great Alpine Road (B500) through Myrtleford to Bright. We can be found on the left hand side just after the road divides as you enter Bright.
From Melbourne by train (Southern Cross station): Take the V line train to Wangaratta, then connecting V Line coach to Bright.
Travelling from Sydney approximately 650km (7hrs?) travel on Hume Freeway (M31) toward Albury/Wodonga take the Tallangatta exit (after Albury before Wodonga) continue to the end where this joins the Murray Valley Highway (B400), follow signs to Yackandandah to Myrtleford and onto Bright.
From Harrietville: follow The Great Alpine Road (B500) into the township continue until you see the sign for divided roads ends and we are almost directly opposite, continue to where you can make a U turn and return to Goldfield Holiday Units.
You may wish to choose anyone of the directions above to take in some of the many scenic routes and side trips available on your journey.

Bright has something for everyone from the most energetic adventurer to the most relaxing quiet time you may choose, amongst the many activities and things to do are the following:
Bright is situated on the Ovens River with swimming allowed in the river, also directly accessible from our property here at Goldfield Holiday Units, you may want to ride a tube down the River all the way to Porepunkah or just dabble around in the shallows. A swimming hole is situated at the Bridge close to the main centre of town alongside Centennial Park to enjoy that leisurely sit on the rug in the park under the shady trees.
The High Country offers many varied activities such as bush walking, bike riding, fishing, para gliding also the winter months the snowfields of Mt Hotham, Dinner Plain, Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo are there for every skier to experience. Many cycling events happen in this area also.
Ovens and King Valleys and other regions within easy distance offer many wineries to taste the local varieties. The Milawa district also has nuts, mustards, cheese and olives along with the local wines to tempt your taste buds.
Historical towns of Beechworth, Yackandandah and Wandiligong are all within an easy day return trip to explore.
