Situated at the south-eastern end of Eildon and half an hour from the bustling town of Mansfield, lies the sleepy, picturesque township of Jamieson. Located a stones throw from the centre of town is this appealing, homely holiday destination.
Leave your troubles behind and lose yourself in the breathtakingly beautiful surrounds of this Jamieson property. Immerse yourself into all that this area has to offer from a beautiful, fully equipped 3 bedroom house.
In the cooler months light the fire and either curl up and read a book, watch a movie on the large flat-screen TV or have some family fun playing board games. Sip a lovely glass of red on the back deck where a 'chatty' king parrot may join you for a conversation or to nibble on some bird seeds. There is an abundance of bird life ready to serenade or entertain by darting around feeding on the fruits or seeds of the large trees on the property. Grab the bird book from the coffee table and try identifying the parrots, rosellas, bower birds, blue wrens, magpies, cockatoos and any others.
Stroll to the bottom of the garden and watch the ducks float by on the meandering Jamieson River. On the opposite bank is The Island where at the northern end the Jamieson and Goulburn Rivers meet. Enjoy a nice gentle walk around The Island or for more strenuous exercise there are a number of steep walking tracks close by.
In the warmer months, the river morphs into a playground - cool off by jumping straight in from the banks of the property or bring along your kayaks and launch them for a leisurely row or an energetic adventure towards Lake Eildon. For a more relaxed pursuit drop a line in to try and catch the local rainbow or brown trout.
Grab the picnic basket and the rug and set up on the bank for a delightful lunch or afternoon drink and nibbles which can, if you're not careful, lead straight into 'happy hour' (but who's to know). There is a bench and table on the bank as well as one under the shade of a beautiful Chinese maple about halfway from the house.
The house has 3 large bedrooms, en-suite to main and a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. There's a Webber BBQ on the deck and a wood BBQ below the deck next to a large dining table and umbrella. A small table on the deck is ideal for enjoying breakfast or 'happy hour' drinks. Next to the table is a sun lounge which awaits the reader or the snoozer.
There's two fully covered carports to keep your car or boat protected.
A minutes walk to town will bring you to Deb's Cafe for breakfast, lunch, and yummy cakes and coffee. The Courthouse Hotel serves generous meals at reasonable prices. The newly relocated Mingos at the Junction restaurant is located about a minute's walk back on the road towards Mansfield. About 12kms further up the road towards Woods Point adjacent to the Goulburn River is the original Kevington Hotel serving hearty meals and broadcasting all the footy games and races.
This is a prime location to use as a base for some serious skiing at Mt Buller which is only an hours drive away. After a hard day on the slopes amongst the madding crowd you will be able to retire to this peaceful location. An hour in another direction will land you at Mt Skene for fun snow activities.
Ten minutes away you can launch your boat in one of the Lake Eildon arms and take off for fishing or water skiing.
There's also a number of four wheel drive and motor bike tracks within a half hour of the property.
History buffs will find out some interesting information at the local museum which is just off the main street. Head towards Gaffney's Creek to see some old mining digs and if you're feeling lucky bring the metal detector along.
Basically any direction you walk or drive to will open up the splendour of this region.
