Our well air-conditioned, neat & tidy two story house, comfortably sleeps 10 people in 4 bedrooms, 2 upstairs & 2 downstairs & has provided us much enjoyment in Summer & Winter as we hope it will for you too.
Upstairs is comprised of a lounge/dining room with wonderful lake views, perfectly oriented to capture sun as it sets in the evenings. The lounge has a large couch, TV with satellite connection, DVD player, free wi-fi, Playstation & lots of board games. The large deck off the lounge/dining is a wonderful place for an evening drink or to feed the birds in the morning as the sun rises. The well equipped galley kitchen, with gas oven & cook top, microwave, Lavazza Amodo Mio pod coffee machine & large fridge with freezer, has served many visitors to the ‘The Shack’ well. There is a large extendable dining room table with seating for 10, perfect for large gatherings & after-dinner games.
The upstairs master room has a queen bed & great lake views. The second upstairs room has one set of bunks & a trundle bed. Upstairs also has a shower over a small bath & vanity & a toilet (external door).
Downstairs has a semi-equipped kitchen with a sink & fridge; very handy should early risers wish to make breakfast without waking those upstairs. Sleeping arrangements downstairs are plentiful. There are two queen beds in the two bedrooms & the living area also has a set of bunks should you prefer to use these. There is a shower & vanity downstairs also as well as a separate split system heating & cooling unit. Downstairs also has its own balcony from which to enjoy the glorious views of the lake.
The lake can be accessed via the front of the property (vehicles in carport have been moved) & boat launching at most lake levels is fine. We do encourage you to thoroughly check your launch spot though & consider the free Alliance boat ramp (~15 mins drive) alongside the lake wall if at all in doubt.
The cove in front of the house is wonderful for swimming & mooring your boat as it is free of large trees & debris. It has also been a successful fishing spot for many anglers all year round given the depth of the water.
You will also enjoy making use of the comfortable & well shaded day-barge parked adjacent to the property to moor your boat & to swim or fish from.
There is a flat area at the front of the house which is great for badminton, bocce, croquet, totem tennis & has even hosted three legged races from time to time.
A large BBQ is provided in a flood lit area of the back yard, along with an outdoor table setting & a single undercover car space. There is plenty of space to park your trailer or an additional car.
Beds are supplied with mattress protectors, donnas & pillows; please bring you own sheets, donna covers, pillow slips & towels.
There are no pets permitted on the property, in order to encourage the wildlife to remain & for hygiene/allergy reasons. Smoking is NOT permitted inside.

The Right Arm of Taylor Bay is secluded, access to the lake is limited to residents only via a sealed road. It is all the more special given it proximity to ‘civilisation’; only ~10 mins to Eildon township, ~15 mins to the dam wall & boat launching facilities & ~30 mins to the larger town of Alexandra.
Most homes in the Taylor Bay area are situated on 1-2 acres of land & are occupied by friendly holiday makers who would always be willing to help a friend in need. We ask that you are considerate of neighbours, keeping late night noise to a minimum & refraining from walking on or using neighbours property.
The property is ~2 hours drive from Melbourne along the Maroondah Highway via the magnificent Yarra Valley and through the Black Spur. The area is surrounded by many bush walks, 4WD tracks, great places to eat & lots of opportunities to scurry away with a good book; there really is something for everyone all year round.
The close proximity of the lake to the house & the surrounding bush environment means that we remind you of the associated risks, especially those with young children. We accept no liability for loss or injury.
Like most Taylor Bay properties, our driveway is a dirt road & can be rough, especially after heavy rains, it would most likely be unsuitable for a low sports car. We can drive a 2WD car to the waters edge (all year round); however, would recommend use of a 4WD vehicle for any boat launching etc.
A refundable security bond is of $500 minimum is required (a higher security bond is required for some groups ) A scanned photo ID (drivers licence) is required. (No photo ID no Booking) Full payment due 14 days prior to stay. Bond refunded within 14 days of stay.
