The best way to describe Fawlty Farm is that it is has all the components of a very large house, but here they are separated and spread out over a small area. The focal point is the 'Big Top'. This is an open-sided but covered area of some 150sq.mt.
There is an open fire pit in the centre surrounded by 3 tables each seating 10 people.
The centre piece is the largest cedar Hot Tub (12 persons) in Australia.
One of the best Features of Fawlty Farm is our extensive Outdoor Kitchen situated under The Big Top. There are 9 different appliances to suit the most ambitious cooking team
Most impressive is the wood-fired, electric driven Roasting Spit that will take a Lamb or a Suckling pig. The Ex-Army Baking Oven, also wood-fired, has a very large stainless hot-plate ideal for breakfast cookups for your whole group. The BBQ is the latest gas Radiant Quartz Technology system. There is also a gas Smoker, Gas fired Yabbie pot,Pizza Oven and a Beer Keg converted to a nifty rotisserie that is ideal for a rolled roast or two large chooks. A dedicated Paella Burner with a 600mm Pan has many other uses. The half 44 gal. drum Charcoal Cooker is great for cuts of any meats.
The most unique feature of our Farm are the complimentary Tours and Cruises offered to our guests during their stay. These are guided by your hosts John and Sally Gilbert. Read on for more information and do take a moment to look at some of our reviews for mentions of these Tours.
Connected to this is a building that houses the substantial kitchen and living rooms as well as the bathroom (2toilets and 2 showers) complex. Behind here is the pool room with a wall plasma and reverse A/C. The bunkhouse is connected to these by a covered walkway. Here there are 2 rooms with 6 bunks in each. Next to these buildings are the four separate A frame huts that have a double bed and two folding camp beds in each.
The Lakehouse is a separate 2 storey cottage on our private lake. It has a Queen size bed and a slipper bath/shower upstairs. Downstairs is a kitchette, toilet, daybed andTV/Radio. Large double doors open out onto a deck with a 10 person dining setting and BBQ, built over the lake. Great in the Summer.
The whole property has a total of 5 double beds and 12 single beds as well as the 8 folding beds suitable for children 4-10yo..
The whole environment of the farm is perfect for a group of friends or family looking for a place with great facilities and loads of interesting accommodation. There is plenty of space for your cars boats and caravans. You can bring your dogs(enquire first) and horses. The private lake is stocked with fish and is safe for swimming but is not fenced. The 300 acres is steeply undulating country with a mixture of open grassy paddocks and dense natural bushland. Perfect for that getaway where the only sounds you will hear will be yours or the abundant wildlife.
Facilities and Pricing
The whole facility will accommodate 22 adults and 8 children under about 10yo. However under current regulations governing this property the maximum number of persons allowed to be accommodated as paying guests is 10. Obviously our housing facilities are greater than this so this at least provides a variety of sleeping arrangements for the guests.
Costs depend on a number of factors. Number of adults(we don't charge for children under 16) length of stay, days of the week, month of the year and number of days before arrival. Then there is the old supply/demand factor meaning that we are quite negotiable on price if we really need your booking (Bums on seats!)
Long weekends, Easter, Cup Weekend all vary. As a rule of thumb, the per person per night cost would be close to $100 based on 10 adults being accommodated.
The property is primarily set up for Outdoor Leisure and Recreation. Our main pursuits are Bushwalking,Mountain bike riding, Fishing and Horse Riding. Please enquire about details regarding these facilities.
The Taylor Bay area of Lake Eildon is unique in that access to the Lake from here is only possible through private land. Also there are no public facilities in the Bay, making the area very safe as well as quiet and secluded. The small but delightful township of Eildon is only 7 mins. away and the Dam wall with year round boat launching is another 5 mins. Remember that when water levels are low, the most water is at the Dam wall and you will see from the map how close Taylor Bay is from the wall.
We have the largest pontoon in the Bay that has two 9mtr. sides that will accommodate your superboats. No charge for guests.
Fawlty Farm is a Hosted Self-Contained Accommodation. This means that your
hosts, John and Sally, reside on the property but in a seperate dwelling.
We are here to help and assist you but not necessarily joining your group.
During your stay we are able to offer you several tours of aspects
of the property and the area in our ex-army 11place Landrovers. We also include a tour of Lake Eildon in our 20person Dayboat the MV 'Fawlty Princess' as well as a visit to our 80yo operational quartz reef Gold Mine(we often come back with some gold) and a trip to the private and very exclusive Ridge hut for a Sundowner. Please enquire. Come with us on a drive to see if you can spot the Small Three (Kangaroo, Wombat and Echidna!).
You are required to bring all your own food and drinks. All bedding is supplied
but linen and towels are not .
You will have to do all your own cooking and cleaning with a view to leaving the premises as you found them.
Thank you for reading all of this! Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers.
