This Victorian cottage, built in 1900, was originally the Mt Carmel Convent of the Presentation Sisters from 1901 to 1928.
Relocated to its present site in 1929, visitors can now enjoy the ambience of the restored cottage and a wonderful easterly panoramic vista of the Victorian High Country.
The home offers two beautifully appointed guest bedrooms, with private ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are comfortably furnished.
The Indigo Suite offers a King size bed which can be split into twin beds, quality Egyptian cotton linen, wool quilts, TV/DVD and many personal touches.
The Mt Carmel Suite is taking bookings from 1 March 2017. This room offers guests a Queen size bed, private bathroom and WIR.
The garden offers many areas in which to relax, enjoy a glass of wine, a quiet read or just take in the scenery. The yard is secure and is dog friendly for those wishing to enjoy time away with their family pet.
The surrounding areas offer unlimited walking, cycling and exploring. The start of the Wahgunyah to Rutherglen extension of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is a one minute cycle away. La Maison is bicycle friendly with lock up bike storage and equipment.
A short stroll brings you into Rutherglen’s main street restaurants, pubs and cafes. Your host will be happy to make a booking or advise on dining options in Rutherglen.
Off street secure car parking. Parking space and pull-through driveway for trailers, campers, caravans & RV's if needed.
For those wishing to cycle to wineries your host can advise on the ride options or escort guests to the trail, or host a guided cycling tour on request.
Within a few minutes’ drive you can be in one of the 20 Rutherglen winery cellar doors. The countryside further afield offers many small historic towns and villages to explore.

La Maison is a dog friendly B&B property. The owner has two Chihuahua dogs. Visitors are welcome to bring their dog/s however they must be house-trained and friendly.
Guests have access to a comfy TV lounge, can help themselves to reading material or relax and listen to music. There is an extensive DVD selection if a night in is desired. A second living space will be available in March.

Breakfast is a lovely, relaxed affair. Many guests enjoy the start of their day with a pot of Twining's tea or an espresso caffe on the rear deck in the morning sunshine.
