Tallangatta/Redgum Bed and Breakfast is situated overlooking Lake Hume and just 600 metres from the High Country Rail Trail. Off street parking, a private entrance, exclusive use of the terrace and a continental breakfast provided ready for you in your room.

Tallangatta is a quiet retreat to use as a base to explore North East Victoria. It is an ideal stop over if driving over the mountains from Canberra, South Coast of NSW or Gippsland Victoria.

I provide bike transfers to Shelley Station on the HCRT at a cost of $50 which goes to the Tallangatta HCRT group for maintenance of track.

Lake Hume when over 50 provides opportunities for skiing, fishing and swimming. When the Lake gets lower the bird life is abundant in the billabongs that are left as the water recedes to reveal the Mitta Mitta River and valley floor.

Tallangatta has two pubs with excellent meals, a bakery and cafe, IGA, newsagent, hardware, petrol, chemist and a great op shop.

It is an ideal place to stay with day trips to Beechworth and the Rutherglen wine region only just an hour away.

For the snow ski enthusiasts we are four hours from Melbourne and then 2 hours the next day gets you onto the slopes of the NSW snow fields.

When the Lake is full it makes the walking track alongside it very special , a tranquil place to be. Tree lined, an abundance of bird life and a short walk to the shops from the BnB.

Bike riders heading either to Old Tallangatta or towards Wodonga on the track meander beside the water most of the way, with seats to rest on or access to the water for a swim.Access to the Sandy Creek Inlet bridge is via the HCRT. Even when the water recedes its takes about a 10 days for the valley to turn green you can walk down along the Mitta Mitta River on the valley floor.

If you have a hybrid or mountain bike the ride from the old Shelley Station on the HCRT takes you though the bush past historical trestle bridges and spectacular valley vistas with a meal stop at the Koetong Hotel if desired.

Mt Lawson State Park is just 20 klm away for bushwalkers - climb up to Conic Rocks or explore the beautiful Keotong Creek Valley - if you come in to the park from the Murray River side there is a walk up to the Kurrajongs.
