Hazelwood Studio is a new boutique getaway that accommodates four guests in East Warburton, 79 kilometres from the Melbourne GPO, on ten magnificent acres of fern gullies and native forest, with half a kilometer of private Yarra River frontage, 20 minutes to the Upper Yarra Reservoir and 10 minutes to Warburton township. Hazelwood Studio is the perfect romantic hideaway for a couple, whether it be honeymooners, artists, writers or executives seeking a quiet and stress free interlude in the country. The spacious second sitting room upstairs, with a wide ironbark timber balcony and furnished with a comfortable leather Moran sofa bed, also easily accommodates an extra couple if required.

While the property has been in the family for decades, and features a beautiful old English garden, Hazelwood Studio has just been completed, and no expense has been spared in providing every modern comfort: from the Miele kitchen and walk-in pantry to the roomy Moran leather lounges in both sitting rooms; from the sawn bluestone-paved verandahs to the polished Jarrah floorboards; from the imported English Axminster carpet to 50,000 litres of pure Yarra Ranges rain water at your disposal. There is reverse cycle heating and cooling and dimmable lights in every room, feather pillows and doonas for winter, and stunning views from every window. The studio is designed to bring the outdoors indoors, with shuttered French doors on both floors and folding café doors out to the garden reminiscent of Southern France.

If you want peace and quiet, simply relax on our own property, cooking an easy lunchtime BBQ, or sipping a Yarra Valley sparkling on the upstairs deck in the afternoon sun, then watching as it slips behind Mount Victoria. Wake to the call of birds in the forest, wet with early morning dew. Chat by the open fire in the old wooden hut, or dine outside in the old-world garden under the leafy oaks, maples and hazelnut trees. Watch for tadpoles emerging as frogs in the pond, serenaded by our resident lyre birds, or get up close and personal with our curious kookaburras and king parrots. You can sit outside on the covered verandah on a warm day, with your favorite music playing through our high quality Bose speakers. You can even take a walk down to the pristine Yarra river in the bottom paddock, if you are feeling a little more energetic, past the wetlands and onto the river flats among the giant river gums. Try your luck to catch rainbow trout and crayfish and help yourself to our veggie garden and fruit trees to create a feast

Hazelwood Studio also makes an excellent base from which to explore the Yarra Valley and surrounding mountains. Forty-five minutes will take you to Domaine Chandon, and the many other renowned wineries and historic houses of the area. You can get acquainted with the native animals in Healesville Sanctuary thirty-five minutes away; go ballooning at sunrise from Yarra Glen, toboggan on Mt Donna Buang in winter, hike on one of Warburton’s many local trails in any season, or bring your bikes and ride the 38 km Warburton Rail Trail. If you are a more serious snow enthusiast, Lake Mountain Alpine Resort is fifty minutes away for cross- country skiing.

The property is 10 minutes drive from Warburton township, where there is a well-stocked licensed supermarket, a doctor, a chemist, a butcher, a bakery, a hotel and restaurants, a service station and an ATM, and a bus service to Melbourne. It is a twenty minute drive to the beautiful Upper Yarra Dam and twenty-five minutes to the summit of Mount Donna Buang.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really enjoyed my stay at Hazelwood Studio. A very well appointed property and you can tell that a lot of attention to detail has been considered by the owners. A most comfortable and enjoyable stay. For such a short trip out of Melbourne it genuinely feels like you could be in the middle of the country. I was surprised how big the property was and had a great walk through the property down to the river. The outdoor fireplace is a great way to spend an evening.Very relaxing and much enjoyed. Thanks and hope to spend more time there soon.
