Dolly Valley Views is a superb country cottage with amazing scenic views looking out over Dolly Grey Park to the majestic Mt Little Joe as a backdrop. Located in the heart of Warburton and the Yarra Valley, it is just over an hour’s leisurely drive from Melbourne’s Eastern Suburbs.
Our cottage has been thoughtfully furnished with your comfort in mind, and provides the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day spent enjoying all the scenery and activities Warburton has to offer. Its location offers the absolute best of both worlds; stunning and tranquil views and amazing native bird and wildlife combine with quick and easy access to all the local amenities and experiences the township has to offer.
The cottage and its setting have been designed to maximise your comfort and enjoyment of the natural environment. Situated on a 640m2 block on a private no through road, the south side of the cottage offers stunning views looking out over a garden attracting an abundance of wild birds to the green and tranquil Dolly Grey Park, and then across to the native trees covering Mt Little Joe. Offering amazing peace and tranquillity, this is the perfect place for those seeking a retreat that allows for sightseeing the abundant bird and wildlife, and that is ideally suited for a romantic escape, for a family relaxation, or for small groups of friends looking to get away together.
The living room offers French doors that open out onto the back deck and take in the stunning views of Mount Little Joe and Dolly Grey Park. The cottage comprises two generous size queen bedrooms one of them sharing the same views as the living room and an additional 3rd bedroom with a bunk bed that can cater for two children or one young adult/teen and a child it also looks out to the stunning natural views. If you are staying with children please consider that full time supervision is a must, as there are slight hazards such as the high deck, the wood heater though a guard is in place, the open style kitchen and wildlife.
The cottage is light filled and has an open plan design featuring a modern kitchen that is reasonably equipped for self-catering although we do not supply any food, and a built-in laundry. It also has a dining area and a central bathroom with full bath, as well as a lounge equipped with split system air conditioning, and a generous wood heater. As mentioned, the French doors in the living room are centred in huge windows that allow maximal experience of the stunning views, and open out to the large deck which has comfortable outdoor seating and makes a great entertaining area. Stairs lead down from the deck to a stone step pathway taking you to the private meditation studio please refer to the house rules. A fully fenced back yard allows for a small pet to roam in the property supervision is strongly advised, however, as native animals have been known to dig holes under the fence in hard to find places.
There is free wifi available in the cottage, and the Telstra network has good mobile coverage. A TV and Blu-ray player are provided, although these are not connected to the Internet. You have the option to bring your own devices, use ours, or enjoy a digital detox. In the room with the bunks there is an additional TV/DVD player, and a small selection of DVDs, games, and books for children. A USB enabled speaker can be also used for an ipod/iphone/ipad please bring your own USB cable.
For active-minded guests the cottage is located close to the popular Warburton Rail Trail and other local walking, running and bike-riding tracks, including the O-Shannessey Aqueduct Trail, which winds its way through the stunning Yarra Ranges National Park, and the newly opened mountain biking trail in Wesburn. The township itself offers many activities and festivals, with regular events at the Arts Centre, easy strolls by the banks of the picturesque Yarra River, and access to the amazing year-round panoramic view and frequent winter snow falls of Mt Donna Buang. There is also golf, tennis, the nearby famous Redwood Forest to explore, weekly markets, local museums and some quirky and colourful shops to complement the more practical ones, such as the local IGA and pharmacy. We are also in easy driving distance to notable destinations such as the Healesville Sanctuary, award-winning wineries, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie in Yarra Glen, and the internationally renowned Tarrawarra Art Exhibitions.
Deciding on activities is made easy with information provided on local attractions, maps, menus, bike hire, tours and events. Our favourite activity is to walk or drive to the footbridge at the start of Warburton’s “Backstairs Track” and walk through Dolly Grey Park, were you can enjoy the waterfall and picnic area, across a boardwalk and up the track which continues to Old Warburton Rd.
