About the house's Location
Bayswater is between Maylands and Bassendean/Guildford. Guildford has historic significance as town. Some of the first settlers in WA established their farms+vineyards here. Mostly on the riverbanks of the Swan as it was so important as transport in those days. There are some buildings left to visit and a variety of antique shops. Nearby Bassendean still has a high street with a string of shops and maintains a village feel. You are in the Swan Valley at this point and there are a multitude of wineries to visit. Or go on one of the organised tours.
Bayswater is only 7 kms from Perth and on the Midland train line. All the attractions of Perth await you, including 'Kings Park', bigger than Central Park New York. Here there are displays of wildflowers and natural bush and great walks with views over Perth city and surrounds (in the summer there are open air performances of Shakespeare). Fringe has also come to Perth and there are local and international performances at venues around central Perth in the evenings of late January and February. Perth has museums, art galleries, cathedrals, a mint, a zoo, and lots more. Nearby is the Ascot racecourse host to the 'Perth Cup'. On the other side of the river to Perth is the Crown Casino. The Hopman Cup tennis tournament is held at the Perth Arena just before the Australian Open in Melbourne. Northbridge is renown for nightlife; plenty of clubs, bars, cinemas, theatre, open air dining and more. There are organised day and night tours of Perth.
The beautiful white sandy beaches are just a bit further away than the city great swimming, surfing and fishing, and sunsets over the Indian Ocean too! There are marinas and quays to explore, and an excellent aquarium to see. Also day trips from Sorrento Quay to Rottnest Island for a complete change of scenery.
Eating out will not disappoint, every possible cuisine is catered for, to be experienced both indoor and alfresco, at any end of the scale from casual to formal. There is a revolving resturaunt to capture the views of Perth and the Swan River again, while you have lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. If you can't get enough of the Swan River you can even dine while cruising upon it ending up at the Vineyards that way if you wish.
