COOL HOUSE - is an eccentrically decorated 19th century cottage and the former long time home of iconic Fremantle artist Rebecca Cool, with fine examples of her artwork throughout the house and garden in the form of painting's, crockery and sculpture.

With larger than life artwork adorning doors, walls or entire rooms Cool House offers the art lover a very special holiday rental experience in a quiet and comfortable central location.

The house is fully equipped for long/short term holiday letting with a well appointed country kitchen, unlimited high speed wireless broadband internet, TV, DVD, Ipod docking, gas heating, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, washing machine, clothes dryer, iron, fine quality linen and towels along with weekly housekeeping if requested.

A high chair, baby bath and travel cot with linen are supplied free of charge if needed.

Situated in the heart of South Fremantle's exciting restaurant district and just a stones throw from the beach there are a plethora of boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants, bars, cafe's, yoga, massage and meditation centre's, parks, playgrounds and more within a short stroll.

Two supermarkets - an IGA and Woolworths, are within 5-10 minutes walk as is a quality greengrocer, several continental delicatessens, a whole food grocer cafe, 24hr convenience store, post office, pharmacy, medical centre and liquor barn.

A 15 minute walk will see you browsing the Fremantle markets or in fishing boat harbour for fish'n'chips and boutique beer, or catch the free CAT bus which stops nearby and will take you to the centre of Fremantle in 5 mins.

Fremantle's Sailing Club is 5 minutes walk away and a must for a sun downer at the end of the day.

COOL HOUSE itself is a heritage listed timber worker's cottage circa 1895, is double insulated with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a 4th bedroom set in the rear garden.

The large wrap around veranda which overlooks the front garden and street is fitted with roll down sun awnings for privacy or shade on hot days and is furnished with comfortable chairs and a dining set for enjoying evening meals.

The entrance is to the lounge area with leather sofa's, gas heating and colour television.

To the right as you enter the lounge is the master bedroom with queen size bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan and french doors opening to the side veranda.

Walk through the lounge to the colourful and fully equipped kitchen with dining set for 6 and stocked with a variety of condiments, coffee, tea etc. to get you started. (extra chairs are available).

The second bedroom has a queen size chiropractic bed (new - Jan 2016), air conditioning, ceiling fan and again french doors accessing the side veranda.

The third bedroom has a single chiropractic bed (new - Jan 2016) a door opening to the side veranda and a cottage window looking out to the rear garden.

The large bathroom has a bath with shower, vanity, hair dryer and full wall 'beach' murals.

The toilet is separate and to the rear of the house is the shower room with shower cubicle, mirrored pedestal hand basin, washing machine, ironing board, steam iron, more colourful wall murals and a door to the rear courtyard with clothes line.

The clothes dryer can be found in the rear utility space.

The light and breezy reading room furnished with a comfortable sofa/bed, dinner gong and ceiling fan has double glass doors opening onto the rear courtyard and garden beyond, featuring a 6 seater outdoor bbq setting providing a tranquil area for enjoying private alfresco meals.

A short walk past the bbq area and over the pond will bring you to the garden bedroom containing 2 king single beds and air conditioning with french doors opening onto a private veranda with seating for two.

Parking is on street at the front of the house.

Fremantle is recognised as the best preserved 19th Century seaport in the world. Over 150 buildings in the port city are classified by the National Trust, These include: The Round House which was built in 1831 & is the oldest public building in W.A, The Esplanade Hotel which was built in 1890s and the Fremantle Prison which was built by convict labour in the 1850s.

Fremantle was established in 1829 as a port for the fledgling Swan River Colony and was the major city in Western Australia for much of its early history. Fremantle became a city in its own right by 1929, and survived the building demolitions of the 1890s and the 1960s. The city emerged in 1987 when it was the host city for the Americas Cup sailing challenge, as a city rich in heritage and character.

“Freo” as it is also know to the locals, is home to a 500-strong fishing fleet and a vast number of yachts and pleasure craft. Two significant historical replica ships were built here: The HMS Endeavour and the Duyfken which was the first Dutch vessel to chart the Australian coastline in 1666.


January 2016 - Wonderful House

This is a very special place for a laid back holiday. Look elsewhere if you want sparkling new mod cons, but if you love a house with character and comfort a short stroll from everything then this might be the most memorable place you'll ever stay.

July 2015 - Amazing house!

We stayed there for 6 days, 5 adults and 2 babies and it was the perfect place. It makes you feel very welcome in Perth and has the perfect location. Close to shops, free bus a few steps away that will bring you to the lovely Fremantle Centre, train station and more. We received the house in perfect conditions, clean and tidy with all what you need to have a perfect holiday. I will choose the Cool House again and will highly recommend it.

June 2015 - Great property!

We found the "Cool House" to be an excellent base whilst we were in WA for work. It was centrally located and had everything that was required. We will be staying again if the need arises.

July 2014 - Warm Wintery Stay at The Very Cool House

We recently stayed at the Cool House and had an extremely pleasant stay, myself and husband and our two young children enjoyed the vibe of the cottage with ample room for us all and being very warm and cosy during the cold winter nights. We just loved the location of the Cool House as it is situated right in the heart of the Groovy South Fremantle Scene. We will be back for sure.

July 2014 - A Lovely Place To Stay

The Cool House was perfect for my partner and I. We stayed for five nights and loved how we could walk to so many eating places and the beach. We also walked the beach-path into Fremantle on a couple of occasions. The cottage itself is very special, artsy and cute with Rebecca Cool paintings everywhere, generous in space and impeccably presented by the gracious host. There is something to visually delight around every corner. It is an old workers cottage so has crooked bits and add-ons but overall it is tasteful and the ample verandahs and back patio area amplify the space. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two living areas it has plenty of room. The linen was fresh, bathrooms clean and gardens a delight. The only slight drawback was the garden spaces weren't really suitable for our old dog but we made do and were amply compensated by the dog beach being so close at hand. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

September 2013

It's a cottage, made from wood and board. The floorboards are beautiful and old and not level. There is eye-catching art everywhere, art that I would not mind owning. It has atmosphere and is in a great location, close to South Beach and pubs and restaurants. A good place to stay at, if you appreciate the good things that Freo offers - this is not a stony, stainless steely accommodation but a creaky and cosy place. And it does have all comforts for a holiday stay and is very helpfully managed.

It was great. A wonderful beach cottage so close to South Beach, walks, restaurants, shops, pubs, free bus and lots more. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a laidback holiday in a great location with every facility. The location is in a quiet neighbourhood, we look forward to coming back

This is the perfect location being close to South Beach and its wonderful beaches and cycle ways. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in close proximity. The location is quiet, the house is relaxing and well equipped. The perfect beach cottage. Lots of outdoor space.
