Location and transport
Mole End Cottage is situated in Walker Street, South Fremantle, a special place only 5 minutes from the centre of historic Fremantle, Western Australia's most visited destination.
Walker Street is only two streets back from the beautiful and family friendly South Beach. It is a no-through road that has minimal traffic. The beach is accessed via a path at the south end of the street.
Walker Street is a residential area with Mole End Cottage being the only short-term accommodation in the street so that when you stay here you will feel as if you are at home in your own Fremantle holiday house.
There is ample free parking in the street and one under cover bay beside the cottage however if you do not have a car you can hire bicycles from the local bike shop just around the corner and the nearest stop for the free CAT bus into the centre of Fremantle is only a 5 minute walk away.
Fremantle is well served by excellent public transport, both bus and train. Quite frankly if you are only interested in visiting Fremantle, you don't need a car.
Nearby South Beach offers safe swimming and is a great kite surfing, canoeing and sailboarding area.
There is an extensive range of reasonably priced restaurants and cafes just around the corner in South Terrace including our local pub the South Beach Hotel and the State's if not Australia's best bakery - Wild Bakery.
Fremantle boasts a large number of attractions including the WA Maritime Museum, which houses the America's Cup winning yacht Australia II and the Ship Wreck Gallery, a world leading maritime archaeology institution that tells the story of the Dutch discovery of the Western Australian coast including the infamous Batavia wreck and mutiny.
The Fremantle Prison is world heritage listed and its tours have won multiple awards.
Fremantle is famous for its art and music scene - the Fremantle Art Centre being a "must" visit and with most pubs and clubs featuring live music.
The historic harbour, unlike most in the world is still open to the public and you can enjoy a coffee at B Shed while watching ships come and go.
