Dunsborough and Yallingup, Beaches, Walks
"The Nest" is 10 mins drive from the very popular tourist centre of Dunsborough as well as Yallingup allowing easy access to the attarctions of these areas yet peace and relaxation away from the hussel and bussel
“Yallingup” is the aboriginal name for “Place of Love”, and beautifully describes this favourite holiday and honeymoon destination.
The attractions are many and varied, with wineries, breweries, restaurants, galleries, arts and crafts, and of course, the spectacular rugged landscape, world renowned surf beaches, and fascinating limestone caves. There are plenty of activities for children, including horse riding at the local Mirravale Riding School, beach fishing or boat charters, and seasonal whale watching.
The most popular beaches are well known to surfers, however, family swimming can be enjoyed in the sheltered water of the Yallingup Lagoon. Just above the beach front there is a surf shop, kiosk, small gallery and a children’s playground.
We also recommend the short drive to stunning Injidup Beach, just south of Yallingup at the end of Wyadup Rd. This beach is also very popular with local surfers, however is usually less crowded. There are no amenities here, so you will need to take refreshments.
For walkers, the track from the parking area at Yallingup along the limestone coast down on to Smith’s Beach will please, especially as it drops on to the sand at the secluded end. A 10 minute walk from here will take you past the local surfing school in summer, to the safe swimming beach at the Smith’s Beach car park.
Restaurants and Wineries
We highly recommend guests try the excellent local restaurants for lunch or dinner, particularly Lamont’s, Vasse Felix , Driftwood, Amberley, and Cape Lodge.
Pop in to Happs Winery just down the road from "The Nest", one of the original vineyards in the area and taste the Merlot. Or travel the short distance to the Bootleg Brewery for a relaxing beer and counter lunch.
