Built in the '70s and extensively remodelled in 2006, TreeHaus has a casual, mid-century style that will appeal to the design conscious. The Japanese-inspired minimalist decor creates a wonderful relaxed feel just the thing when escaping from the clutter of everyday life
The house has an upside down format, with the main living and dining areas on the upper floor taking maximum advantage of the views across the treetops to Eagle Bay. The aspect of the house ensures that it enjoys the benefit of cross-ventilation in warmer months, with all the outdoor living areas well protected from prevailing winds in the cooler months.
On the entry level there is a games room with a competition size pool table and darts, queen guest bedroom, studio/office, bathroom and laundry, and external decking thus catering well for two families with children.
Upstairs, the open plan kitchen and living/dining area opens to the wrap around balcony and large alfresco area, complete with barbecue and 10-seater table that is perfectly positioned for drinks at dusk and open-air dining with the azure waters of the bay as backdrop.
A large lounge room with BOSE home theatre and pot belly stove leads through to the queen-bed master bedroom and ensuite with bath. The third and fourth adjoining bedrooms on this level accommodate the children in four bunks, one with a double bed.
Free high-speed wi-fi is available throughout the house. Other technology features include AppleTV in the lounge, iPod docks throughout, TV/DVD in the bunk rooms and hi-fi with turntable in the living/dining area.
Summers are obviously well catered for, with air-conditioning to the upstairs lounge and living/dining areas, extensive decking and landscaped rear gardens providing a relaxing backdrop. The pristine waters of Eagle Bay are only an eight-minute walk away along a flat path.
However, during winter TreeHaus also has its own ambiance, with the cosy pot belly stove and column heaters in all bedrooms to provide warmth and a range of indoor activities to keep guests of all ages occupied.
This is definitely a child-friendly holiday home but adults will relax into the special ambiance, the views, the nearby walking trails and the proximity to world-class wineries and restaurants.
