Sleepers Pemberton's Cottages have been built in the manner of the town’s heritage timber houses, are fully equipped with modern conveniences, and just a short walk to the high street.

Whims Cottage offers a unique heritage-style stay in cozy comfort, and by utilising the lofted, timber roof space each cottage can accommodate up to 9 guests. The large, open-plan living, dining room approx 7 x 9m runs seamlessly from the front deck out onto the rear deck to the grassy garden below.

A unique place in WA, Pemberton was chosen as the backdrop to the 2016 movie, Jasper Jones, for it’s timeless, character-filled street scape. For such a wonderfully quiet location, the day-time activities all seem to be designed to wear you out among some of WA’s most beautiful natural landscapes, then re-energise you with a plethora of seasonal delights and a surprisingly large selection of local wines, ciders and craft beers see our list of wineries below.

Pemberton is famed for the vast national parks and a must when in the areas is visiting the trio of lookout trees you can climb not for the feint hearted named, The Gloucester Tree, Diamond Tree and Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree. Two sections of the Bibbulmun Track offer differing experiences for walkers. The 59km Pemberton to Northcliffe is perfect for a long weekend trail, while the 109km Donnelly River to Pemberton follows the Donnelly River, but throws up some of the toughest terrain on the Track in one area.

Road cyclists love the area for its long undulating roads, while mountain bikers and BMX riders are spoilt with a number of world-class, off-road trails. Take in a spot of fishing along the rivers, with Brown and Rainbow Trout to be caught, canoe along the Donnelly River, or 4WD through the scrub and huge white dunes, where you can sand-board, or fish from the shore.

For foodies, the area forms part of the Southern Forests Food Council, with exceptional seasonal crops winding their way into the menus, and arguably at its gourmet with peak during Unearthed Pemberton, and Truffle Kerfuffle each year.

Situated about 100m from Brockman Road, guests of the cottage need only take a leisurely stroll to enjoy some of the dining options both along Brockman Road Pemberton’s high street and the surrounding area. Sample the local wines, ciders and beers without having to worry about driving afterwards. In each cottage, we’ve listed all the local restaurants and cafes, including opening days, times and contact details.

Our ‘country luxe’ style offers a calming palette to soothe the senses. Subway tiles, comfy, denim-style sofas, jute rugs, limited edition prints, and accents of black are found throughout, including the old nail marks in the timber floors. There’s an oversized dining table, and lots of seating, including bar stool, bench, sofas, outdoor chairs and dining chairs. We’ve added an oversized footstool rather than a coffee table, so more guests can put their feet up

Sleepers Pemberton's cottages have been purpose-built to be enjoyed year-round, with a wood-burning fireplace to snuggle down on colder nights, air conditioning in the living area and the master bedroom for warmer days, and fly screens fitted on all windows and both sets of sliding doors, so you can just enjoy the breeze.

From the main living area, both Jinkers Cottage and Whims Cottage enjoy views out from the raised back deck above the newly-laid lawn, over the tram line which twice-daily carries the tourist tram at its leisurely pace from Pemberton into the forests, and over the roof tops to the mill and hills beyond.

Whims Cottage can accommodate up to 9 guests. On the ground floor, there’s a Master bedroom with king bed, and a bunk bedroom with an extra trundle bed. Upstairs, within the vaulted timber ceilings, there are two more bedrooms that each have a king bed that can be split into four long singles. Please let us know upon booking if you would like to have these king beds split into singles. All the king bed rooms have built in robes.

Our bedrooms are not vast, as we’ve kept the size of the cottages in keeping with the heritage timber dwellings in this part of town, and we’ve forgone extra space by giving you the largest possible beds for the best possible night’s sleep, with premium Slumberland mattresses, fresh white cotton linen, and a choice of pillows.

We’ve kept our gardens to a minimum, with lots of grass for kids to run around, and very few plants, minimising any effects for those who may suffer from hay fever and other plant-related sensitivities. Because of this, we do not allow pets.

Guests get complimentary amenities from Australia’s Biology Smart Skincare – No. 301 Pure Hydration Shampoo, No. 302 Pure Hydration Conditioner, No. 303 Moisture Therapy Body Wash and No. 305 Moisture Therapy Soap. Biology is a natural range of Australian made body and hair care products. Their ‘Naked Formulas’ are free from sulphates, parabens and other harmful chemicals.

Each kitchen is equipped with a large fridge, and Bosch appliances: electric oven, gas cooktop, range hood, dishwasher, while upstairs the laundry has a Bosch 7kg front-loader washing machine and Fischer & Pykel dryer. Also in the kitchen, there’s a microwave, a Nespresso machine, Breville sandwich press, and matching Delonghi small appliances, while in the lounge, there’s a 50” flat screen TV and DVD player.

While you can park on the Pine Street, we also have purpose-built driveways. Each cottage does have a garage, but these are not available for use.

There’s more to mention, but if you get stuck, or need some pointers, we’re just an email or SMS away.
