Our fully self-contained, timber-floored bungalow with raked ceilings is spacious and filled with books and Kimberley artworks. The bungalow is in our large front garden and is on a bike path through parks just five minutes bike ride /one minute by car to Cable Beach and cafés. The ‘Earth Garden’ bungalow sits in the shade of a Malay almond tree and is separate from our home. A path leads to our shaded and solar-heated pool and organic gardens surrounded by mango trees, pawpaws and passionfruit vines. The bungalow is solar-powered with a new bathroom, full kitchen, and washing machine.
We built our home 12 years ago with mainly recycled and eco-friendly materials. It won two Master Builder Awards: 'Best Country Home' and 'Most Innovative Use of Materials'. Our home and bungalow are fully solar-powered and have solar hot water.
For guests staying longer than seven days we will provide fresh linen on Day 6, and Day 12 etc.
Guests are welcome to use our swimming pool, which is solar-heated so even in the cooler times of the Dry Season it's a comfortable swimming temperature. It's a large pool with spa jets and shade sails, and has the secluded feel of a Kimberley waterhole. Guests can walk along the garden path past our home verandahs to use the pool any time. Guests are also welcome to wander through our extensive organic food garden. In previous years we have grown vegetables commercially to supply local cafés. We have built up a productive garden system that works with our onsite raw materials, chooks, and compost to feed our family for parts of the year.
We are on site in our own separate home and ready to assist with any queries. We are happy to help as needed but we definitely respect the privacy of our guests. People from all backgrounds are welcome in our bungalow.
We have travelled extensively throughout many remote parts of the Kimberley, Pilbara, Central Australia, and the Northern Territory, and are happy to help with any travel ideas.
