Our stay at The Captain's House was the best holiday apartment and stay/experience we have ever had. Arjen was the most supportive, helpful and friendly host we have ever met and nothing was too much trouble for him. We cannot recommend him and his lovely and unique house enough - the house was in a great location and central to everything and delightful to stay in. Peter was a very good host. Great with communication and the meet and greet upon our arrival. The property is in a very good location, walking distance from the train station and all the sights. Good choice of cafes, shops and bakeries in the next street

We really enjoyed the central location and the opportunity to stay in such a charming canal house. The house was spacious and well equipped, and the hosts were very helpful. The stairs weren’t an issue for us but anyone with mobility issues might find the flights of stairs challenging. There were no negatives - we were just surprised that there was no shower gel and a few drops of hand soap left in the dispenser on arrival. We ended up having to buy our own and leaving it for the next person. The lounge had a few old stains on it and the bath towels could do with an upgrade. These are just small things, but they make a difference when you are paying a decent price for accommodation.

Wonderful stay on modern houseboat

Very comfortable stay on a modern house boat- highly recommended. The rooms are cosy and we had all we needed with some lovely personal touches. There was even an Christmas tree for us. Edwin was a great host and very considerate with good communication. The location is good and the free ferry from the Central Station works really well- we never waited more than a minute or two.

Fantastic host, great location.

We had a wonderful stay. The location was very central and convenient. Evert greeted us on arrival, carried our heavy bags up the winding staircase, explained the area and the town to us, and provided us with ample supplies of coffee, tea, juice and a number of “goodies”. We left early in the morning but Evert was there again to carry our bags down and say good-bye. A great host.
