Nestled in nature, this quaint 2-bedroom cottage is perched 450-feet from the water's edge. Bordering Burr Oak State Park at Dock Area #2, it's a wonderful retreat for families, friends, couples, or hunting parties. Get all the benefits of the State Park and 664-acre lake while enjoying your very own private residence. This 2-bedroom cottage is situated in a peaceful forested, lakeside neighborhood. In the late fall and winter months, you will enjoy lake views from the deck. Spring and summer you will enjoy views of the forest.

While pets are welcome on this property, all pets must be pre-approved at time of booking and a pet fee will apply. You must notify owner at time of booking if you’re bringing a pet.

It is a short drive to a small town with restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores. Its conveniently located near one of Ohio's most scenic drives, St. Rt. 78, aka the Rim of the World. Take the highway to visit many awesome communities within minutes.

The Float Shack, a camp store & boat rental that sells bait & tackle, and serves up craft soda ice cream floats is just down 2-minutes down the street. Cabin guests receive 10% off Kayak & pontoon rentals!

One of the original cottages built on Burr Oak Lake, Fisherman's Cottage sleeps up to 6 people comfortably in beds. The top level features a new bathroom with shower/tub, full kitchen, dining table, beautiful live-edge oak bar, and seating area. The top-level bedroom has a very comfortable full-size futon and twin bunk. Large enough for a couple to sleep well, or makes a great sleeping quarters for three kids.

Served our needs perfectly

Worked out very well for us! Great area and house is as described. There have obviously been mice in the downstairs living room area but it is a fishing cabin so no big deal for us. The hot tub was great for some back pain relief! Thanks for the stay!

Perfect Place for Quality Time Connecting!

My boyfriend and I came down here to celebrate my birthday and our two year anniversary. This cottage was the perfect place for a weekend of quality time! We loved having the full kitchen and grill, as we typically prefer to cook over eating out. The hot tub was perfect for the two of us, we saw the reviews saying they wished it was more private so we just brought our small canopy! Our first morning there I walked downhill from the cottage to the docks and was able to actually meet Mark as he was setting off on a pontoon. Emma was incredibly friendly and helpful as well, and even let us meet their gorgeous dog! We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to truly relax and spend some uninterrupted time with eachother. They have a couple other properties nearby as well! We will certainly be back!

Disappointing

The cabin is very run down. The curtain rod in the kitchen was broken, the window in the bunk room was slid down and open with no screen and we could not close it. We stuffed a towel in the opening to keep bugs out. The air conditioner in that room was dirty and smelled when turned on. The downstairs smelled very musty and the carpets were filthy. The walls were dirty and desperately need a coat of paint. All in all, this poor little cabin needs an update and a good cleaning. The outside deck needed stained. There were outdoor lights that we could not figure out how to turn on. It would be nice to have some directions regarding the tv remote, the hot tub, and the lights. The refrigerator had some spills that I wiped up. All in all, for the price we paid it was very disappointing. I was glad to leave and get home.

Why they chose this property

The Burr Oak region is a hidden gem. Not too far from shopping, and close enough to Ohio University to commute on a daily basis, this cottage was calling to us. We purchased it in 2013 and have since totally renovated it from floor to ceiling. Mark took elements from the log cabin he grew up in and incorporated into the renovation.

What makes this property unique

Peace—that's what we find here. Sit and watch the abundant wildlife, or take a walk down the hill to the lake. It is a truly wonderful and unique slice of lake life.
