Very cozy and private. Spiral staircase to bedroom. Sliding glass doors open to wrap-around deck and lawn that slopes to ocean. 300+ feet deep water frontage separated from lawn by broad rock ledge. Enjoy your morning coffee watching lobster and sail boats in the Mussel Ridge Channel. Unbelievable and peaceful views out to ocean and north to the Camden Hills. Windjammer cruises, golf, tennis, hiking, museums, access to nearby islands. Unparalleled views everywhere.
No smoking inside, permitted on deck only. Pets may be permitted. If approved (your dog needs to be friendly as our dog has the run of the acreage and is always looking for a playmate) a $50.00 fee is charged per pet.
I have never charged a cleaning fee and expect the cottage to be left clean and tidy.

We had a great stay! The cottage has everything you could need and special touches. We enjoyed talking with the hosts and got to meet Pilot once a day. The hosts were just right, and available for questions. This is such a beautiful place! Want to come back again!
Everything was in order. The environment did not disappoint. The Connells and their pets were pleasant hosts.

Super view, comfortable cottage
Just as advertised! Great ocean view from the deck, comfy cottage nicely appointed, helpful owners nearby, even visits from owners' friendly pets. Perfect place for cloud- and water-watching, quiet reading, walking and relaxation. Good location for reaching other area attractions - if you must leave the property. Stay and enjoy!
I was pleasantly surprised. Over the years of renting vacation homes you learn how deceiving house photos can be. The pictures of Cottage by the Sea make it look small, but it isn't. We did not feel cramped at all! Happily, the ocean was just as close as the pictures show. This was probably the most well stocked home we've rented, which is important to us because we don't go out to eat. We enjoyed our relaxing stay and would rent it again!
The first thought arriving there was wow! You can look right over the ocean from the deck, the living/kitchen room and even from the bedroom.
We had our first coffee on the Rocks every Morning. A perfect spot to relax.
And Rockland is not too far away.
We would come back for sure.
Amazing little cottage by the sea!!
Owners Leslie & Gordon couldn’t be more accommodating!
And a visit from their sweet dogPilot was the cherry on the top!
Comfort and cleanliness and everything you could possibly need at your finger tip.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cottage with us, we will be back just as soon as we can.
Have an amazing summer!!!

Beautiful views, peaceful, relaxing! Excellent hosts, great communication.
My husband and I enjoyed this cottage for 3 nights in February. The weather was outstanding, great neighborhood for walks. We enjoyed sitting on the granite rocks looking out at the ocean.
Close to Rockland for dinner at the Samoset one night, otherwise we didn't want to leave the cottage!
We enjoyed listening to Gordon's sea adventures and his family history of island living/working. This is Maine at it's best. If you don't have snow and ice to enjoy Maine's outdoor sports, come and enjoy an island treasure.
Thank you to our hosts for sharing your home!
I traveled solo and it was the perfect respite. Check in is simple, Pilot welcomes you with a wagging tail and gives the grand tour. Having left my own furry friend at home, I was happy for his company. Furnishings are more updated than the photos show. I can't imagine anyone needing anything more than what this cottage provides. Mind your head when you climb the spiral staircase. I was grateful for the bluetooth speaker in the living room. This was a perfect solo stay, I'd recommend for couples too. You want for nothing here.
Cute cozy cottage right on Penobscot Bay. Very thoughtfully supplied with honestly more updated conveniences and small appliances than we expected to find, given the rural setting. The spiral staircase to the bedroom was easily manageable. We did not mind the only bathroom being on the first floor. The view of the bay is just stunning. If you want quiet: a hawk flew over and we could hear the sound of its wings. The local lobster shack was a walkable distance. We found eggs for sale on an honor system basis just a short drive away. Expect a visit from Pilot, the owners’ sweet dog. The owners Gordon and Leslie are lovely and just the right amount of available. We were so glad we chose to stay here.

Everything you need with a quiet ocean front view!
The owners have ensured you have everything you need for you stay. Comfy beds and linens, laundry facilities, coffeemaker, dishes, chairs...you name it, they have it ready for you. The rocks along the shoreline are a great spot for watching lobster skiffs, birding, and reading. We had our meals on the deck, and enjoyed walking around the island. If you want to explore the region, there are lots of lighthouses and interesting attractions fit for a day drive and if you forget anything, the stores aren't too far away either! Leslie and Gordon are available in the adjacent house and happy to help if you need them. And Pilot, their adorable little dog, will come around to check on you as well. Definitely recommended!
All the great photos and descriptions of this cottage are, well, accurate! Besides being in a wonderful spot, the amenities are even better than you think. The high quality gas stove is terrific and cooks up lobsters in no time. The fridge is large, spotless and the freezer is very generousously sized. Many many kitchen implements are available.
The queen bed is comfortable though it fits tightly into the loft alcove. (Getting in and out may be been difficult if I were 10 years older).
Many thoughtful touches from the thoughtful hosts too numerous to mention. I can't wait to return.
We enjoyed our stay at the oceanfront cottage. Hosts live next door and were helpful, friendly, but private. The views can't be beat, just gorgeous! A few things to note...this is a very small cottage with a metal spiral staircase leading up to the one bedroom. It is well stocked, but for such a small cottage, has lots of large dressers, furniture, and appliances. It was actually a bit of a tight fit for our family of 3 and 2 German Shepherds, but that's on me for getting wowed by the view and not considering our spacial needs. ;-) Their dog also has access to the property, so be sure your pets are friendly with other pets off leash. Overall, considering we vacationed in February and had one pretty good snow event, we enjoyed our stay. I think it would definitely be amazing for a couple, with smaller dog friendly pets than ours. I would return without our dogs and our teenager.
Stayed for a longweekend in November. The cottage by the sea is literally right on the sea, the views are breathtaking, the sunrise gorgeous and we were lucky to have beautiful weather. The host thought of everything, the cottage has everything you need to make a wonderful stay. Would definitely return. Rockland is about a 15 min drive and a great place to visit.
My friend and I were grateful for the quiet seclusion during our stay. It was wonderful to hear the water lying in bed with the open windows. A great location to see things up and down the coast. Just the break we needed!
We imagined a rocky Maine sea coast village environment.
We got everything we hoped for. Since it was a dark and stormy night when we arrived it was a little intimidating. The next few days were great. We communicated with owner regularly, sometimes in person. This allowed us to understand the history of the property. Great food at nearby restaurants and a short drive to historic a scenic villages. All in all a great experience
The location is great! My husband and I had a great week here. The cottage wasn’t fancy, but it had what we needed, was well cared for and in a beautiful spot. Working with the owner was great. I would absolutely stay here again!
We wanted a remote oceanfront getaway and we found it! The northeast view is wonderful and the silence, other than the constant wind, welcoming. Lots of room for the dogs to play, too. Just right…
The view is the centerpiece! Green lawn sloping to a granite shore, with ocean, sky, and clouds beyond. Cozy well-cared-for cottage, and visits from the owners' pets makes it feel like home. The way a Maine coast summer visit should be!
I will never forget the moment we turned into the driveway at Leslie and Gordon's property -- the view took my breath away, and I knew this was exactly the vacation my husband and I sorely needed and would never forget. The week spent at the cottage was peaceful and restorative and an experience like no other. The cottage itself was cozy, spotlessly clean, comfortable and inviting, and everything needed to enjoy the stay was provided. Our 10 month old labrador awoke with the sun every morning, encouraging us to soak in the beauty of the sunrise at the water's edge every day, listening to the water lapping against the rocks and the seagulls welcoming the day. The location is a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of Maine. We enjoyed our day trips to Camden State Park and Monhegan Island...and McLoon's for our lobster rolls, crab cakes and chowders...but we never really wanted to wander too far afield. Reading a book in a chair by the shore, eating our dinner on the deck overlooking the bay, and enjoying the gorgeous sunsets was part of our daily routine -- as were visits from Pilot, the sweet resident Jack Russell terrier who won our hearts with his exuberant personality. We found it so hard to leave this slice of heaven....as did our pup... and truly hope to return. Thank you Leslie and Gordon for your hospitality and for providing the perfect place to recharge, reconnect and unwind.
My husband and I just returned from a fabulous weeks vacation at this wonderful cottage. It wasn't nearly long enough. Peaceful, quiet and casual, the cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. It has everything you might need including linens, kitchenware, even some staples. Not to mention a washer and dryer. The view is just spectacular! We couldn't imagine any better. We never tired of watching lobster boats coming and going, ducks making their way along the shore or just the changing water and sky.
It's a perfect location-very private, yet convenient to local restaurants such as McLoons for lobster rolls, the Happy Clam, Waterman's Beach Brewery, Weskaeg Oysters (self serve) and Archers(in Rockland) were standouts. The Sail Power and Steam Museum in Rockland is not to be missed. Leslie and Gordon were wonderful hosts, attentive if you needed them, yet allowed you your privacy. The very sweet & lovable resident pup, Pilot, made sure he stopped by daily to check on us. It's a good thing we didn't have room in a suitcase for him. If you want to be on the real Maine coast, this is it! We can't wait to return.
We had a blast! Leslie and Gordon are the best hosts. Location is prime and right on the bay. If peace and quiet is what you want, this is the spot. We have stayed here before and will stay here again.
My wife and I both enjoyed our stay in this wonderful waterfront cottage. Our dog StanLee had great time playing with Pilot the resident dog. Everything you need was supplied and the upstairs bedroom was very comfortable. If you love oysters there is an oyster farm 5 minutes away open 24/7 self serve. Weskeag Oyster Co.Wicked good oysters I'll went back for more!
Leslie was a great hostess, the first night I realized I forgot my oyster knife and called her. Her husband lent me one of his. I would recommend this place for your next Maine vacation.
