Town: The quay area of East Looe is always bustling with maritime activity because Looe is Cornwall's second largest fishing port; it is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven-arched bridge built in the 19th century over the River Looe. East and West Looe are connected by a river taxi service. While West Looe boasts a beautiful view across the harbour, East Looe is known for its winding lanes and quaint shops catering to tourists. From the quay, you can walk to Banjo Pier, a great vantage point for seeing Looe Island across the bay and for watching the returning fishing trawlers. Looe's sandy beach, which is located right next to the pier, is a favourite among local families for its calm waters and wide open spaces. Apart from the beach, the area of south-east Cornwall is rich in World Heritage-listed mining landscapes, including Bodmin Moor and the Tamar Valley.
