The historic town of Pembroke is a 10-minute drive away and is famous for its Medieval castle and the birth of King Henry the VII. It’s well worth the visit to step back in time and take in the glorious views around the mill pond and take in the town. Travelling west from Eventide is the harbour town of Milford Haven and further on to the Dale Peninsula, here you can take a trip to Skomer Island, the beaches of Marloes, St Brides and Little Haven.

Eventide is set at the end of a no-through lane and within a row of similar period properties and the street is aptly named after the Great Eastern Ship whose home was within the harbor in the 1800s. This spacious property has been lovingly furnished throughout and offers a good level of comfort. The main bedrooms and living room offer fantastic sea views, while the galley style kitchen offers a great space to cook that special meal with the benefit of a range cooker and patio doors leading out to the garden, ideal for breakfast or reading a good book. The open plan living/dining room is a perfect social space and ideal for relaxing in after a busy day exploring. To the fore of the property you can enjoy sitting out on your terrace overlooking the estuary, here you can watch the comings and goings of the many boats and plethora of birdlife all at your doorstep. The rear courtyard has views of the water through to the font of the house.

This location is ideal for cycle enthusiasts with the Brunel Trail which starts in Neyland, once the Western terminus of Brunel’s Great Western Railway and links the picturesque Neyland Marina with Johnston and Haverfordwest, meandering through Pill Nature Reserve. A great day out for all your family is the coastal town of Tenby, around 30 minutes away. Here you can enjoy the cobbled streets, beautiful beach or simply relax in one of the many eateries and enjoy some local produce. Beach 9 miles. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

We really enjoyed our stay at Eventide.
We really enjoyed our stay at Eventide. The house is lovely and spacious with great views of the harbour from the window seat in the living room and from two of the three double bedrooms. There's a small courtyard in the back to shelter from the sun or a lovely Mediterranean front garden which is a great sun trap. It’s only a 30 minute drive to some beautiful Pembrokeshire beaches and coastline. South Beach in Tenby and Broad Haven are lovely sandy stretches and Freshwater West is great for surfing and to see where Dobby’s resting place was filmed in Harry Potter - be sure to leave a sock for Dobby and visit Café Mor while you’re there. Fresh bread, teacakes, cakes and pies are all available at the bakery near Johnston train station (still hot!) and fresh fish is available every Thursday morning from the small white van in the car park behind the paper shop on the high street (up from the florist). Pointz Castle in Solva and Fire & Ice in Narberth also have some great handmade ice cream if you’re in the area! Kath provided the personal touch and really made us feel welcome - spoiling us a little more than she should have. She was happy to provide recommendations on the local area and nothing was too much. Next time we go back to Pembroke we will be sure to check if Eventide is available!
