This apartment is a little gem
This is our 5th visit to Marseillan but our first stay in this apartment but it really is a gem. We usually try to find an apartment with 2 bedrooms to give us more space but although this apartment is only 1 bedroom, it is so well planned that you do not need another bedroom. It is just perfect, well situated and well equipped. Cannot fault it.
Really lovely property, walking distance to all amenities, and excellent host.
This modern apartment is on the second(top) floor of a small community. It is spacious and nicely furnished. It has allocated parking. A particular feature is the spacious balcony where we breakfasted most days. Marseillan is a pretty village with many bars and restaurants and a weekly market. There is much to explore in the surrounding area, and Hilary, our host was able to give us lots of suggestions. I would definitely recommend this apartment and would love to return one day.
Excellent apartment, beautifully decorated, very well equipped and only a short walk to the harbour
An excellent apartment, beautifully decorated, very well equipped and only a short walk to the harbour with all its restaurants. We found the apartment was in a nice and quiet location, and it was lovely to sit on the balcony admiring the view.
The village has a number of shops and again is a short walk from the apartment. There are a couple of larger supermarkets a short drive away.
Hilary and Gavin had thought of everything that you might need during your visit and as such the apartment was very well equipped. They were also incredibly helpful with advice on the local area and had left books/leaflets on the area for visitors to read. The huge beaches near Sete were a short drive away, they were beautiful, parking was free (and we always managed to find a spot to park relatively easily, despite it being the July/Aug time).
A great holiday apartment.
The apartment was exactly what we had hoped for. It was very well equipped, especially if you plan to self cater. All the basic were in the kitchen for you to use, including laundry detergent etc. The apartment was spotlessly clean on arrival, with a welcome bottle of wine and fruit in the fridge. Great terrace with a beautiful view of the Etang. We sat out on it every morning and again in the evening.
It was an easy, short walk to the port where there were lots of bars and restaurants. Shops also very easy to get to. Plenty of patisseries and fruit & veg.
There is a cycle path on the door step which went for miles, no need to go on the roads. Bikes easily hired in the port from a friendly shop owner - leaflet in apartment and recommended by Hilary. There is also bike storage. Public transport also right outside the apartments which we used without a problem.
We arrived and departed from the train station in Agde, the host, Hilary picked us up on arrival and took us there on our departure. She offered to take us to the supermarket the day we arrived. She was available at anytime if required and kept in touch with us to check if everything was okay. It was good to know she was there if needed but she didn’t intrude on our stay.
From the minute we booked she kept in touch and provided information about events going on at the port and the surrounding area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return.
There is only one thing we could suggest for improvement, that would be a change of bedding during a fortnight stay.
This is one of the best apartments we have experienced in our travels throughout France.
Well situated for the etang and the port. Great balcony with a beautiful view. Owners have thought of everything you would need and all included in the price. We will be back here soon
Very conveniently situated for the town and all it has to offer. The flat was very comfortable, the beds in particular, secure parking, and a pleasant view of the etang.
Sunny one bedroom apartment – stunning view
Top (second) floor apartment in small new construction on the shore of the Etang du Thau. Great sea views from the terrace which has sun all day. Five minutes walk from the marina and port and from the centre of town with a great choice of local shops bars and restaurants. Market day on Tuesday.
The local airport is Beziers, 20 minutes from Marseillan. Other nearby airports include Montpellier (45 minutes), Nimes (75 minutes), Perpignan (75 minutes), Carcassonne (75 minutes).
If you’re flying to Beziers for just a short stay you may decide not to hire a car – the town bus meets every Ryan Air flight and will drop you 5 minutes level walk from the apartment. The bus is also scheduled to take you back to the airport in time for each flight.
At the entrance of the Canal du Midi, Marseillan is fast becoming a destination port but still has an unhurried and local flavour. It has so much to offer with over 20 restaurants and bars, local walks and cycling tracks and a sailing and wind surfing school/boat hire at the marina. Nearby at Marseillan Plage there are miles of silver sand beaches and safe Mediterranean swimming or fishing.
Within 30-45 minutes drive are the historic towns of Pezenas, Montpellier and Narbonne and the small must-see ancient settlement at Guillaume le Desert. There are numerous walks or harder hikes nearby, taking you through the vineyards and small villages - and mountain stream fishing and hill walking in the Cevennes.
Spend time on the Languedocienne wine route - tasting from local producers. In town local growers will fill up your container with excellent quaffing wine for around one Euro a litre Locally produced mussels and oysters are world renowned – there’s not much better than a bottle of chilled Picpoul de Pinet and a plate of seafood at one of the harbour side restaurants – or on your terrace overlooking the Etang
With free high speed WiFi you can stay in touch with family and friends or just let the world go by and immerse yourself in the slow pace of French village life.
We look forward to welcoming you …......
