Somewhat disappointing !
In principle, a super house in a peaceful setting, with a very nice pool and wonderful views of the surrounding hills. Potentially an ideal luxury property for us and no doubt many others.
It disappointed, however, since its cleanliness, management, and maintenance all left much to be desired. The pictures in the internet led us to expect something better.
We have shared our thoughts with the owners who intend to address the various issues that we raised.
Gabriela and Kevin, September 2018.
This is the first review we have ever received with an unsatisfactory comment about the cleanliness of the villa. Our cleaner has been with us for years and we have never had a problem. I have raised the issue with the cleaner and management and thank you for making me aware of this.
Loved it!!!! Can't fault it..
We knew from the photos we wouldn't be disappointed and we wasn't ! We had travelled from Rome and needed some chill out time and the villa gave us all of that.
Set all on its own so the kids could shout as loud as they wanted while jumping in the fantastic pool.
I can't praise the villa enough or where it's placed it's a lovely area not far from the beach and villages.
John, Annie ,Richard and Tina couldn't do enough for us from start to finish so if your thinking of a lovely relaxing holiday then book you won't be disappointed!
We will be back ..
Hi Jo and Darren,
Really delighted you enjoyed your stay at Maiella View. It was a pleasure having you and look forward to seeing you again sometime.
Beautiful modern villa with stunning views and fabulous pool.
The villa is situated in a lovely setting. It is surrounded by an Olive grove in the hills near Francavilla al Mare. It is completely modern inside and the bathroom showers are amazing!
It was really hot so the kids spent a lot of time in the pool. The villa has air conditioning and ceiling fans in the bedrooms thankfully. It's a 10-15 min drive to the beach. There is an Agriturismo close to the property where we had the most wonderful food. I would highly recommend you try it, an experience I won't forget. We visited a few cantinas in the area. There is one close to the villa in Tollo were we picked up some exceptional local wine. I will deinately return to Maiella View in the future!
Thank you for your review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
Beautiful modern villa in a secluded setting.
We have stayed twice at Maiella View and it has become one of our favourite places in Italy. The villa is set in between olive groves and has the most amazing views across the stunning countryside in one direction, looking over to the sea in another and to the Maiella mountains in the other. The sunsets and incredible. The villa itself is modern, luxurious and well kept. On arrival you are welcomed with a basket containing pasta, sauce and a bottle of wine or prosecco. Each bedroom is comfortable and has its own very nice en suite bathroom, again with the stunning views. There is a modern kitchen and TV with dvd and blu ray player. Outside is a lovely garden and the best part, the swimming pool which you can light at night with changing colours. The location is good for visiting Francavilla al mare, Pescara. The local town of Tollo has a great Vineyard called Cantina Tollo which is worth a visit and you can bring home some very nice wine for a very good price. Also make sure you visit Aguratissimo Campoletizia just 5 mins down the road, set in beautiful surroundings where you will get fantastic home cooked food that just keeps coming. As a previous reviewer has said, we would love to keep Maiella View a secret as it is such a gem but it's hard not to tell others about it!
Thank you for your review. We look forward to welcoming you back to Maiella View in the future.
Fantastic modern villa in Idyllic Location
We've stayed at Maeilla view for the last 2 years as we love the location and tranquility of the area, tucked between vineyards but really easily accessible to Francavilla and Pescara for beaches and restaurants. There's the most amazing agriturisimo within walking distance to the villa where they serve the food grown on the farm, one of the best meals we've ever had! The villa is spacious, contemporary and has a perfect pool to cool off in! The owners are really helpful and provided some very welcome provisions (including prosecco!) when our flight was delayed. Would highly recommend this hidden gem although would quite like to keep it a secret!
Thank you for your review. We look forward to welcoming you to Maiella View in the future.
Great get away!
Maiella View was wonderful. The listing description was very accurate and the property was well maintained. The property manager was very prompt in meeting with us and very knowledgeable about the area. We were able to take day trips to many of the surrounding towns and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. The owners were very responsible and professional in completing all business matters. I would recommend this property to my friends. We had a rental car with a GPS which was very helpful.
Abruzzo is one of the most sparsely populated regions on the Italian peninsula. A vacation in Abruzzo offers a taste of the unspoiled Italy.
This region, where the north of Italy meets the south, is one of the most beautiful in the country. Bordered by the Apennines to the west and fringed by the Adriatic on the east, it has some of Italy's most beautiful natural scenery. In the Gran Sasso it has the highest mountain in Italy. Stand atop the Gran Sasso and you have views of both the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian (Mediterranean) Seas, across the entire width of Italy.
Within an easy drive of the Villa there are an abundance of restaurants and pizzerias at which to enjoy the regional cuisine. Meat dishes are a speciality in the hills and seafood in the coastal towns. We are happy to recommend some of our favourite eating establishments but we have found the food and wine to be excellent wherever we have eaten.
The closest beach is just a 10-minute drive away, with the beach resorts offering umbrellas, loungers, play-areas for kids and snack bars/restaurants. The centre of Pescara, with its designer and high street shops, is a 25-minute drive from the Villa. In the evenings, the beach cafes and the old town of Pescara Porto transform themselves into vibrant night spots.
‘Marina di Pescara’ is one of the largest on the Adriatic coast. The Marina contains cafés, restaurants and boutique shops. Boat charters are available to sail along the Abruzzo coastline, while a day trip will allow you to explore the beautiful islands of Isole Tremiti.
Abruzzo has 4 magnificent Natural Parks and 3 mountain massifs as good as the Alpines. Hiking and mountain bike enthusiasts have a network of marked paths available and horse-back excursions are available.
The Maiella mountain range, which is part of the world heritage of National Parks, has 22km of ski slopes and 12km of trails for Nordic skiing and is only a short drive from the Villa. At less than 2,000 metres, the slopes are famous for the abundant blanket of snow that lasts until late spring. While skiing, a glance toward the horizon will give you spectacular views of the coast and the Adriatic Sea. When it comes to après-ski, the choices are many: enchanting villages, small towns rich in art works, ancient traditions and folkloric events.
Getting there: There are flights from many European cities such as London, Paris, Frankfurt, Brussels and Eindhoven directly to Pescara, from which it is a 20 minute drive to the villa. Alternatively, the villa is approximately 2 1/2 hours drive on the autostrada from Rome's airports.
