## Neighborhood

With the feel of a country village, the location of a suburb and the reputation of a trendy, bohemian urban district, Stoke Newington has recently become of the most desirable place to live in London. Despite its proximity to central London, the area is not short of nature. The Abney Park Cemetery, once a nonconformist graveyard, is now a beautiful green nature reserve, full of wildlife and a perfect place for a walk, a run or some dog-spotting. Nearby, Clissold Park features a full lake and a deer enclosure. St. Mary’s Old Church is a simple yet beautiful 16th-century building that often holds events and services. If you want to shop like a local, then don’t miss a trip to Meat N16 which is a traditional butchers shop, and Little Pad is great for vintage clothes. For anyone looking for a little more adrenaline or excitement, then you can get in on the action at the West Reservoir Water Sports Centre where kayaking, canoeing and sailing, as well as open-water swimming in the summer, are all on the menu.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat or a tasty drink in the evening, then Stoke Newington will not let you down. Perilla is a great place to go to enjoy modern European cuisine, and the cuttlefish Bolognese is a particular speciality. Meanwhile, Rasa is a cheap and very cheerful Indian vegetarian restaurant where most dishes are under £5 and the menu sparkles with exciting dishes and ingredients. Any fans of Japanese cuisine should try the fried aubergine at Fuji, the areas best sushi restaurant. As for places to enjoy a drink, The Jolly Butcher on Stoke Newington High Street has perhaps the best rotating lineup of guest craft beers in the local area. Auld Shillelagh is also known as the best Irish pub outside Ireland and it is a must-visit place for any fans of Guinness. Finally, Lady Mildmay is a great gastropub with an impressive lineup of gin flavours to choose from.

Great family vacation
Really enjoyed this flat. Plenty of room to move around, everything we needed for an 11 night stay and right in the heart of a vibrant neighborhood. Transportation was simple, walk downstairs and around the corner for continuous bus service to overground and underground stations. The neighborhood was really a highlight. Alive with activity, friendly and inviting restaurants of all kind, cute neighborhood off the High Road. One we enjoyed nightly after returning from site seeing was eating in our neighborhood, then having a stroll though the neighborhood to the parks. We couldn't have enjoyed our time more.
