About this property

Private Lake Winnipesaukee Island!

Private Island on Lake Winnipesaukee! Devens Island is a one and a half acre island with a 3-bedroom two-story house, a separate bunk house, a 2 slip boat dock, a swim platform deck and a very gradual sandy beach. Located on one of the most picturesque lakes in the world, you truly feel the stresses of the world melt away while on your own private island. Located in Tuftonboro between Cow Island and Little Bear, in an area know as “the hole in the wall,” Devens enjoys both spectacular sunsets from “sunset bench,” and lovely sunrises from the well thought out “breakfast coffee sitting area.” One of Lake Winnipesaukee's original historic homes which has been renovated within the past few years, it maintains the cozy island camp feel while offering modern amenities including; new hardwood floors, granite countertops in the bathroom, all new exterior windows and an enclosed porch which wraps around two sides of the house extending the living space and opening onto the new cedar deck. The main house has a queen size bed downstairs and a queen and a full size bed upstairs. The bathroom has a tub/shower combo but there is nothing better than the new outdoor cedar shower. Kids love to sleep in the bunk house with the 2 sets of built-in bunk beds, sleeping 4. The outdoor fire pit is a great night time gathering spot for family and friends. 2 kayaks are supplied as well as outdoor patio furniture, adorondack chairs and portable beach chairs. The kitchen has a new refrigerator, an electric stove and oven, a microwave, a Keurig coffee maker and there is a gas grill on the deck. New in 2019; wifi, a flat screen TV and Sonos speaker system. Devens Island is accessible only by boat. There is nearby parking , 1 mile away at 19 Mile Bay, which offers day docking and parking for up to 2 cars and a trailer for the length of your stay. There are several local marinas that rent boats. Fall asleep to the sound of the loons and relax like you never have before! NH rental tax license #063063

Island Loving
This was the second time we rented this property and it was even better than the first. The new dock was great for the boat, fishing and swimming. Having your own island allows you to enjoy bit morning and afternoon sun. A really great place to stay on the lake.

Best Place to Spend A Family Vacatiom
It was a slice of paradise in the one of the best parts of the lake. The property was perfect for a family getaway and a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Beautiful sunsets were only outdone by the tranquil morning sunrises glistening across the water. Simplicity with a homey touch, plenty of amenities, and fantastic communication with the property owners made the week relaxing, peaceful, and stress free.

Perfect Week on the Lake
Everything about our week on Devens Island was wonderful. Steve and Brenda met us on the dock when we arrived and showed us around the island. The house was charming, comfortable, and spotless. We loved all the sitting areas around the island -- the deck, the fire pit, the hammock, and the beach. Our kids' friends visiting enjoyed camping out in the bunkhouse, and we loved picking blueberries from the bushes all around the island. All in all, perfect location, perfect house, perfect vacation!

A little slice of heaven
There is not enough great things I can say about Devens Island. The sunrises are beautiful and the sunsets are equally spec tacular given the 360 degree view of being on the island. Anything you would want to make a great family getaway is available. Swimming dock, private beach with a great swimming area, a private cabin separated from the main house for the kids, a breezeway with beautiful views, easy access by boat to all the great lake areas and what we liked best was watching the early morning sunrise and the evening sunset from two spectacular vantage points. Steve was so nice and everything promised on the VRBO posting was spot on. I miss the serenity already..........
