Beautiful, remote spot with fabulous views
We had a lovely stay here - 6 adults. It was very hot so we spent lots of time in and around the pool, which has stunning views across to the castle and beyond (we definitely saw the sea. Twice.) The house is lovely, in a rustic manner with lots of character. Big rooms, tiled floors, shutters...gorgeous. You really are miles from anywhere - even places that are quite nearby take a while to get to because of the steep, windy roads. We used the supermarket in Pomerance (25 mins). The bar/restaurant in Montecastelli is excellent and we even walked there and back once! It's a good few kilometres though!
We went to Siena (an hour away) for a bit of city culture: it was gorgeous. Best of all, we explored the river pools called Masso delle Fanciulle - only about half an hour away, plus a short walk, and absolutely idyllic.
Beautiful house with great views
The photographs of Il Poggi don't really do it justice. The house itself is large with great rooms the grounds are spacious and home to some amazing wildflowers. The views from the house, the grounds and the pool are spectacular and far reaching . . . to the sea on a good day. The pool is well maintained and has the best of the views. Be slightly prepared for a bumpy drive to the property from Montecastelli but it is more than worth it. Great communication from the owner and Nedda, who we met when we arrived at the property. Highly recommended,
A beautiful secluded spot with breaktaking views over the Tuscan countryside.
Had a wonderful stay here at I Poggi for a week. The property is extremely secluded down quite a long track is and is perfect for those wanting complete peace and quiet. The views really are incredible and the pool is absolutely stunning. The pool is a short walk down a path from the house and is situated with fantastic views all around and is positioned perfectly for all-day sun and a lovely place to be for sunset drinks round the pool. It was kept very clean during our stay. Nice areas at the front and back of the house to sit outside. We had wonderful weather and so ate all our meals outside. There is a barbecue too which we used. Nedda and Matteo met us on our first evening when we arrived to show us to the property as it is quite hard to find! They were very welcoming and helped us the next day when we had a problem with the electricity - got it sorted out for us quickly. Not a place if you want lively nightlife or quick access into a town but for us it was a perfect get-away to relax and recharge the batteries. We just couldn't stop oohing and aahing at the views all around - very beautiful. It is also near enough to lots of places to head out for day trips - we visited Florence, Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano during our stay. A week just wasn't long enough and no one wanted to leave!
Peaceful with stunning views
Very peaceful as no near neighbours. Stunning views across the valley to the castle. Nedda and her friends made us very welcome even inviting us to a secret restaurant to enjoy local cuisine. Perfect for a family wanting peace and quiet. Small restaurant in the nearby town of Montecastelli where the staff are friendly and the food was good. Supermarket closes on Sunday and is 20 minutes away so need to stock up beforehand
Barry and family - stayed 7 nights 02/07/2016
We had a fantastic 3 week stay in the I Poggi villa. When you enter the gate to the premisses for the first time you just cannot believe the beautiful view over the green valley. The house is situated centrally on a hill such that you have full privacy, it is just you and the incredible landscape. The very large swimming pool is situated a terras downhill, great place for children where we enjoyed long sunset evenings. The utilisation of the house is at high standard, the house is being looked after very well. The family that manage the rental live at 5 kilometers, Nedda, Matteo and Gionatan and have been so kind to us! Also we have spent time in Pisa, Florence, beautiful villages and the beach all at short drive distance. There are great possibilities for long walks in the nature. A small paradise in Tuscany we will recommend to our friends and come back to.
A peaceful retreat in the stunning Peacock Valley
We stayed at I Poggi in July 2014 with our teenage children and had a wonderful time. The villa was spacious and clean but furnishings and equipment a little dated. However, this has not stopped us from booking in 2015.
The private swimming pool is a good size, well maintained and with views over the stunning Peacock Valley. This is a perfect place for those seeking privacy and just outside Montecastelli so a car is essential. We went to Florence by train from Poggibonsi and explored the local area. We found the Manager and family very friendly and extremely helpful.
If arriving later on a Saturday, it maybe worth considering that most supermarkets and local shops close on Sundays so stock up with provisions en route or arrive earlier in the day.
